New faces
There was a new bakery in Ponyville.
Now this was unusual by itself. Why would a bakery open here? Sugarcube Corner already provided ponyville with their daily amount of sugar.
Not that this discouraged pinkie of course. A new bakery meant that new ponies had moved to ponyville! And it was her responsibility as ponyvilles super duper party pony to plan them a "welcome to ponyville" party! First though, she had to meet them. So once her shift was done, she decided to go over to the new bakery and introduce herself.
"Welcome to the Sweet tooth shoppe. For all your sugary needs. How can I help you?" asked the young unicorn mare at the counter.
"Hello! I'm pinkie pie! I just wanted to come over and invite you all to a 'Welcome to Ponyville' party!" said Pinkie.
"Pinkie Pie... Hey aren't you the element of laughter?" asked the mare
"Yup!" said pinkie
"Esteemed confidant of twilight sparkle, the princess of friendship?" the mare continued.
"Yes!" said pinkie
"Super duper party pony who works at sugarcube corner?" asked the mare
"Yes! also how did you know that?" asked pinkie.
"I have my ways. I'm sweet melody" the mare said, extending a hoof to shake.
"Pleased to meet you! Do you own this place?" asked pinkie, shaking her hoof.
"Nah. My grandma does though." said Sweet Melody.
"Wow! Your grandmother's here too?! Is there anyone else I need to invite to the 'Welcome to Ponyville' party?" aske dpinkie pie.
"Nah, It's just my grandma and me. Has been ever since I was little. My parents died and Grandma raised me." said Sweet Melody.
"I'm so sorry about that..." said pinkie pie, uncharacteristically melancholy.
"That's alright. It was years ago." said Sweet Melody.
"Sweet Melody! Who are you talking to!" came a yell from the kitchen.
Another unicorn mare emerged from there. Pinkie assumed that she was sweet melody's grandmother, although she looked much younger than she had envisioned in her mind.
"Just talking to this here customer, grandma. Pinkie pie, meet my grandma, sour requiem." said Sweet melody
"Pleasure to meet you" said Pinkie pie.
"Hmph. Charmed I'm sure." said Sour Requiem.
"Grandma, Pinkie here is inviting us to our complimentary 'Welcome to Ponyville party'" said sweet melody
"She is, is she? Well I suppose that we might find some time in our incredibly busy schedule to attend" said Sour Requiem.
"Sooo... That's a maybe then?" asked pinkie.
"Where is this party?" asked Sour requiem.
"At sugar cube corner." said Pinkie
"Hmm..." said Sour requiem.
As Sour requiem considered pinkie's proposal. Pinkie took the time to truly look at the two mares. They both had yellowish fur and if you looked at them, you could definitely see the family resemblance.
Pinkie also noticed that they were both wearing necklaces with a red ruby at the front. Huh. That ruby looked kinda familiar...
Before pinkie pie had time to remember where she had seen that ruby before. Sour requiem spoke.
"Fine. We shall partake in your... 'welcome to ponyville party'" said Sour Requiem.
"Super Duper! It's at sundown! See you then!" said pinkie as she left the shop
"Bye, pinkie!" said Sweet Melody.
Pinkie Pie then spent the rest of the day preparing for the party. She made refreshments, put up decorations, invited a good number of people. All that was left to do was wait for the guests of honor.
And lo and behold! The two guests of honor strolled into sugar cube corner.
"Surprise!" said everyone
"Wow!" said Sweet melody.
Sour Requiem just scowled and muttered under her breath.
"Hi! How are you enjoying the party so far?" asked pinkie.
"It's great Pinkie." said Sweet melody beaming.
"Hmph." said Sour Requiem
Just then pinkie pie's best friend's came up to them.
"Are those..." asked sweet melody.
"Yup! My best friends in the entire world! Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and the woman, the myth, the legend... princess twilight sparkle! Everyone, this is Sweet melody and her grandmother, Sour Requiem" said pinkie.
"Wow! It's such an honor to meet the elements of harmony! and a princess!!" squealed Sweet melody, obviously trying not to explode from excitement.
"Yes, It's such a great honor to be in the presence of such distinguished paragons..." said Sour Requiem.
"You got a problem with us, lady?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"You are friends with pinkie pie yes? Tell me, how do you handle her inane ramblings?" asked Sour Requiem.
"Hey!" said Pinkie
"Pinkie Pie can be a bit much sometimes, but she's a true friend through and through." said Applejack.
"I'm sure she is... Princess?" asked Sour Requiem
"Yes?" said twilight warily.
"I heard that you've become an aunt! What a wonderful, joyous occasion!" said Sour Requiem
"Yes, it was..." said Twilight
"And is it true that the child was was simply... born an alicorn?" asked Sour Requiem
"Why are you asking so many questions?" asked Rainbow Dash
"Just trying to separate fact from fiction child. I merely wanted to confirm that the facts I heard were indeed true..." siad Sour Requiem.
"They are, and flurry was born and alicorn." said twilight.
"That's quite unusual, don't you think? All other alicorns earned their position, while flurry was just born with it." said Sour Requiem
"We all thought it was unusual.. but I haven't had time to study it, with all my princess duties." said Twilight.
"Quite a shame that. There's a reason for everything, and I'd like to know the reason why this alicorn had her powers from birth, rather than action." said Sour Requiem.
"Maybe I'll look into it later and get back to you." said Twilight.
"That would be simply wonderful your majesty." said Sour Requiem.
After that, the party continued as normal. Sweet Melody introduced herself to a lot of ponies, and was well on the way to making more new friends. Sour Requiem on the other hoof, spent much of the party alone, only speaking to someone if they approached her and often making them wish they had not.
Afterwards, Pinkie approached Twilight.
"Hey Twilight... You know those rubies that our guests of honour had on their necklaces? I thought I saw them before, but I couldn't place it, and since you're the smartest person I know, I was wondering if you had any idea..." said Pinkie
"I noticed them too Pinkie, and I know exactly what they were." said Twilight
She teleported a book and opened it to reveal...
"Those rubies match the ones the three sirens wore, exactly." said twilight.
