It's four days to Halloween and, well I would be remiss if I didn't do a horror recommend. I'll try to make the takes unique, though.
Starting is the more traditional horror - Twenty-Two Minutes of Air by AnchorsAway. When I say traditional, though, I'm not talking about gory movie horror. It's another story that's ominous and dark.

I don't want to interrupt something like that in the middle, but I also don't want to let other (and potentially more time sensitive) things fall by the wayside either. Sure, there's a bookshelf that includes all of the stories, but it doesn't help line up story and author with post. So: this index. A hopefully easier way to search and sort. Let's talk world building. It's a pretty important part of a story - you gotta make the setting work, after all. One of the reasons why this fandom works is that we've got a rich background to work against and to build off of. But just as important is the parts that aren't officially filled in. The stuff that's hinted at but unspoken and that writers dwell in. We can take those - some small like the lives of Twilight's parents, some huge like how pre-Princess Equestria worked - and explore them
So I've talked a bit before about my queue for this blog: I keep 10-20 weeks of pairs in a reserve shelf and generally pull from there as the mood takes me or as a situation comes up. When most authors write Purple Edgehorse, they go for action. Maybe romance. A dark path full of pathos and regret. (For a certain subset of authors, they go a bit more steamy because they really want her to step on them.) Comedy is not a first choice for most authors.
These are not most authors.
They understand that comedy sometimes works best when the madness comes from the mouth of a pony who would murder you at the drop of a hat. Any hat. Or hat-like object.
This one's gonna be a bit quick - we're hosting Thanksgiving this year, so I've got roughly a billion things to clean and neaten and cook before tomorrow. But that just makes it a perfectly good excuse to hit the last one of the pairings I promised: Unique Sunset Shimmer Origins.
