Equestria Girls: Escape from Cyberspace

Chapter 1: Prologue / Digitization

One day in Canterlot High, it’s just a normal day for the Rainbooms (them fighting monsters and Equestrian magic-cursed objects while Trixie and Starlight cheering them on). After they’re done fighting their latest opponent (a robotic dinosaur that Micro Chips invented that went haywire and attacked the school), Sunset decides that the Rainbooms, Starlight and Trixie should come over to her condo for a little gaming break to recover from their battle.

Once there, Sunset had surprised them with something they never knew she would have.

She turned her closet into her own secret gaming cave with a computer, a stash of over 50 video games, headphones, snacks and a gaming chair!

“What do you think? Is it cool or what?” Sunset said.

“It’s fabulous, darling,” Rarity replied, impressed with the details of the chair. “Ooh! Pretty colors!” Pinkie Pie squealed. “I wish I had one of those rooms,” Twilight said. “Me, too,” Rainbow Dash agreed, hiding her jealousy. “Oh, please. The Great and Powerful Trixie has seen better things than this dump.” Trixie scoffed, clearly not impressed. “Really, Trix? Sunset is a great gamer and she’s updating on her gaming equipment to make it more immersive.” Starlight butted in.

“I’m glad you all like it. I tell you what: We’ll take turns playing whatever game you like to play,” Sunset said, pulling out 10 straws (one really short and one really long straw). Trixie is then asked by Sunset if she can use her hat for her idea she’s about to reveal.

“We’ll each pick out a straw from this hat. Whoever gets the longest straw gets to try my new game cave first and the one with the shortest straw gets to try it out last.” Sunset explained, putting the straws in Trixie's hat.

The girls agree and they each take turns picking a straw (the straws also determine which game each of them will play individually; one game per girl). After they picked straws, the order went like this:

“Oh, no fair! Why does Trixie have to go last?!” Trixie complained. “Trixie demands a recount!” “Sorry, Trix, but that’s the order we settled on, so you’ll just have to wait.” Sunset responded.

And so, the girls each took their turns playing their favorite video games (snacking along the way).

Later that night...

After Trixie’s turn, it was time for everyone to get home, since it’s getting late.

“I’ll see you all tomorrow for another game-break!” Sunset said to the girls, closing the door as they left the condo.

Sunset settles herself to bed, excited for another day of gameplay with the Rainbooms, Trixie and Starlight. It was while she was still asleep, a glittering stream of magic had slipped through her closet door and turned something in the game room into what would become a gateway to a new adventure for the gang.

The next morning…

It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Sunset got up and got ready for a new day when she heard a knock on her door.

It was The Rainbooms, Trixie and Starlight at the door, eagerly wanting to enter the gaming cave again.

“Hello, I’ve been expecting you. I bet you’re wondering if you can have a turn in my game cave, you’re right on time!” Sunset said, inviting the girls in. However, when they approach the closet, Twilight immediately senses that there’s something suspicious going on in there (there’s a magic glowing outline behind the door).

“Uh, Sunset? I sense that there might be a mysterious magic surge in your cave. I think we need to rethink this idea before we do anything else.” Twilight said, concerned.

“Oh, come on Twi. It’s just the lights in the cave that are decorations. How bad can it be?” Sunset replied, oblivious to what’s about to happen next.

When Sunset opens the door, she sees that her computer is glitching like crazy!! “What happened?! My computer worked great last night!” Sunset said, panicking. Suddenly, a laser popped out of the screen, and it struck each of the Rainbooms (Trixie and Starlight too), freezing them and pulling them through the screen (like a UFO’s tractor beam) one by one. What they’ll experience on the other side is the biggest digital adventure for them all!

They end up flying through a black tube of glowing green ones and zeros. After a short while, the glowing green numbers spill out a green stream of flashing binary code symbols that covers their bodies (except for their heads and necks) like paint splashing on them, changing their bodies into something more cybernetic.

Everything went black…
