// 38. Trial 3 of the Elite Four: Diamond Tiara vs. Agatha

Another day has arrived at the building of the Elite Four. Diamond looks at herself in the mirror. She has on the outfit she wore inside the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town. She and Eevee walk out of their room as Silver Spoon and Babs Seed waited for them.
"Going for that gothic look again, I see." Silver praised. "Does this have to do with your next opponent?"
"You might say that." Diamond replied. "I learned that I'll be facing Agatha. She specializes in Ghost and Poison types."
"Poison types I can tolerate." Babs said. "But, ghost types are not for me."
"Because of those ghost types we saw in the tower. Right?"
"As Big Mac would say, eeyup."
The girls head for the section of doors. Two have glowing green frames. This indicated that Diamond defeated two of the Elite Four. They saw a door with a glowing ghost emblem. That's their next stop. As they enter the room, they were greeted by an old lady with a cane.
"I am Agatha." The old woman said. "I represent the Elite Four. Which of you is Diamond Tiara?"
Diamond steps up to answer. "That would be me."
"I am pleased you are dressed for the occasion."
Diamond blushed. As a female channeler stepped in to be the referee. "This will be a five on five battle. Choose your first Pokémon."
"My first Pokémon will be Arbok!" Agatha said.
"I'll start with Golem." Diamond added.
The two Pokémon came out, ready for action. Agatha quickly made the first move. "Arbok, strike fast with Mud Shot!"
Arbok spat up globs of mud to hit Golem. Diamond saw that, and countered. "Golem, use Rock Slide!"
Golem made a bunch of rocks rain down on Arbok. Diamond followed it up. "Now, roll a strike with Rollout!"
Tucking into a ball, Golem rolled fast at Arbok. The impact made the Cobra Pokémon faint.
"Arbok is unable to battle." The channeler announced. "Golem wins!"
"Arbok, return." Agatha said. She looks at Diamond with angry eyes. "This will stop your progress. Go, Gengar!"
Out pops a dark purple ghost like critter with a nasty smile. Diamond checks it out.
Gengar, the Shadow Pokémon and the evolved form of Haunter. The Pokédex said., Sometimes it likes to tease humans by mocking their shadows.
"Gengar, use Shadow Punch!" Agatha called out.
Enveloping it's fist with black energy, Gengar charges into Golem.
"Dodge it, Golem." Diamond said.
As soon as Golem avoided the Shadow Punch, Diamond followed it up. "Now, use Rock Slide!"
"Oh no, you don't!" Agatha said angrily. "Gengar, use Shadow Ball!"
As Golem started to roll, Gengar fired a shot of dark energy. The black ball hit Golem hard. It hit the wall behind Diamond and fainted.
"Golem is unable to battle." The channeler announced. "Gengar wins!"
"That's better." Agatha said as Diamond recalled Golem.
"This will teach you to respect others." Diamond said. "Let's go, Hypno!"
Hypno came out. Agatha us not impressed. "This Pokémon is not staying around. Gengar, use Night Shade!"
Gengar started to charge up. Diamond countered fast. "Quick, use Hypnosis!"
Hypno waved it's pendulum. Gengar started to fall asleep. This started to concern Agatha. Diamond took advantage of this. "Hypno, PSYCHIC!"
Hypno fired a beam of psychic energy at Gengar. The ghostly Pokémon soon fainted.
"Gengar is unable to battle." The channeler announced. "Hypno wins!"
After recalling Gengar, Agatha looked at Diamond congratulating Hypno. Babs and Silver watched with concern as Agatha makes her next move.
"This time, you won't get a chance to use that psychic power." Agatha told her. "Go, Golbat!"
A Golbat comes out and flies in to attack Hypno. Diamond quickly recalled her psychic friend and calls for her next Pokémon. "Let's go, Magneton!"
Agatha was shocked to see this Pokémon. But, she is not giving up. "No Pokémon can stop me. Golbat, use Screech!"
Golbat screeched loud to lower Magneton's defense. Agathat followed it up. "Now, use Poison Fang!"
With it's mouth glowing purple, Golbat charges into Magneton. Diamond unleashed a surprise. "Magneton, use Discharge!"
Magneton shot out electric sparks at Golbat. Being partially a flying type, Golbat soon fainted.
"Golbat is unable to battle." The Channeler announced. "Magneton wins!"
Agatha recalls Golbat. She then makes her next choice. "Go, Weezing!"
Diamond looked at Weezing, figuring how to defeat it. She then had an idea.
"Magneton, return. I might need you later." Diamond said. She then made her next choice. "Let's go, Ninetales!"
Ninetales came out. Agatha was impressed with the sight of this Pokémon. But, this is still a gym battle. So, on they go. "As beautiful as your Ninetales is, I'll still win. Weezing, use Sludge Bomb;"
Weezing fired blobs of poison at Ninetales. But, Diamond kept her cool. "Ninetales, use Flamethrower ob those globs!"
Ninetales fired rounds of flames on the poison so she wouldn't get struck. Diamond made her next move. "Use Confuse Ray on Weezing!"
The eyes of Ninetales glowed red. This scared Agatha as Weezing looped around in a confusing state.
"Okay, Ninetales." Diamond called out. "Fire Blast!"
Ninetales fired a five sided fire symbol. Weezing got struck with such high temperatures, it soon fainted.
"Weezing is unable to battle." The channeler announced. "Ninetales wins!"
Diamond cheered and hugged Ninetales as Agatha recalled her Weezing. The member of the Elite Four unleashed a big surprise. "My final Pokémon will be Gengar number two!"
"Two?!" Babs and Silver gasped.
Indeed, a second Gengar popped out, ready for action. Diamond was a bit worried. But, she's fighting on. "Ninetales, use Will-O-Wisp!"
With it's tails flaring up, Ninetales fired flames at Gengar. This causes a burn effect.
"Not even burns can stop us!" Agatha informed. "Gengar, use Shadow Punch!"
Gengar energized it's fist and charged into Ninetales. The Shadow Pokémon unleashed it's power into that punch, causing Ninetales to faint.
"Ninetales is unable to battle." The channeler announced. "Gengar two wins!"
Gengar posed as Ninetales is recalled. Diamond makes her next choice. "Hypno, back to action!"
Hypno comes back out. Diamond decided to strike fast. "Hypno, use Psybeam!"
Hypno struck Gengar hard. But, even after being struck, Gengar is still going.
"That was a powerful move, Miss Tiara." Agatha said. "But, we'll still win. Gengar, use Night Shade!"
Unleashing black energy, Gengar hit Hypno hard. Since psychic Pokémon are vulnerable to dark type moves, Hypno soon fainted.
"Hypno is unable to battle." The channeler announced. "Gengar two wins!"
"My second Gengar is two powerful." Agatha said as Diamond recalled Hypno. "Just give up. Even your Magneton is no match for my Pokémon."
But, Diamond is not beat. She sees that the burn effect of Ninetales' Will-O-Wisp is still working. She then turns to her Eevee. "Time to shine, Eevee."
Eevee steps in. Agatha looks amused. "What can a normal type do against a ghost type like Gengar?"
"You'll see. Eevee, use Swift!"
Eevee fired it's stars at Gengar. As the ghostly Pokémon fights back, Eevee rushes in as Diamond calls out to her friend. "Now, Eevee. Use Bite!"
Eevee rushes into give a big bite to Gengar. Dark type moves work against Ghost types. So, Gengar soon fainted.
"Gengar two is unable to battle." The channeler announced. "Eevee wins. The winner of this battle is Diamond Tiara!"
The elegant maiden cheered as Eevee jumped into her arms. After recalling her second Gengar, Agatha walked up to her opponent.
"You are a worthy opponent." Agatha praised. "I admire your ability to adjust to any situation."
"Thank you, Agatha." Diamond replied as she shook Agatha's hand.
"With my defeat, you have one member of the Elite Four left. Better heal your Pokémon. This will be your toughest test."
Diamond and her friends soon head for the reception desk to heal their Pokémon. If Agatha is right, this will be Diamond's toughest challenger thus far.
