After Chrysalis causes Spike to be badly injured, he is sent to the hospital to hopefully recover. How will Spike’s friends cope during this time and more importantly, will he survive?
After Chrysalis causes Spike to be badly injured due to pulling his wings too much, he is sent to the hospital to find a way to recover from this. We will now see how Spike’s friends cope with their friend being injured, and subsequently his enemies.(Only the first chapter has gore but not too much)
Chrysalis had enough of Twilight Sprakle and her friends constantly interfering in her plans.
First it was the wedding in Canterlot, Twilight had found her suspicious when she pretended to be Cadence and ultimately was the reason why Shining Armor and Cadence were able to defeat her.
Then there was her failed attempt of kidnapping Twilight and the other important figures of Equestria which led to her hive turning against her. Granted, that was more of Starlight Glimmer’s doing but given she was connected to Twilight, it was pretty much her fault too.
And currently she has been ruining her attempt to rule Equestria with Tirek and Cozy Glow by trying to distract them to take Grogar’s bell.
Those six were becoming too much of a problem, they needed to be dealt with already, she saw them all regroup together.
All but one.
Chrysalis looked at the little dragon known as Spike laying on the ground in pain, he was trying to pick himself up when Chrysalis used her telekinesis to pick him up, by the wings no less.
“Uh, Chrysalis. What are you gonna do to me?” Spike asked fearfully.
Chrysalis smirked, he feared her, as he should.
“Let’s just say you will be an excellent bargaining chip.” Chrysalis smirked as she flew back to her comrades, she had the perfect plan to win this battle and get revenge on Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight checked to see if all her friends were accounted for, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash we’re all accounted for and Rainbow Dash just caught Fluttershy.
‘Wait, where’s Spike?’ Twilight’s eyes widened in realization.
“ENOUGH!” Chrysalis’ voice boomed throughout the field, scaring Twilight to her core, especially once she saw what Chrysalis had in her magic grip.
“Surrender now or the dragon’s wings get plucked!” Chrysalis threatened with a villainous smirk as she tugged on Spike’s wings painfully, causing Twilight to worry, Chrysalis doesn’t fool around and if she said she was going to hurt Spike, she likely meant it.
“Please! Don’t hurt him!” Twilight begged, horrified at what Spike was going through.
“Don’t worry about me! Just save-“ Spike shouted before Chrysalis in fury, pulled Spike’s wings even more, causing blood to start flowing from the sides.
“Shut up you insolent dragon!” Chrysalis spoke venomously.
The sight just made Twilight even more scared, “Chrysalis stop! He’s bleeding!”
“Yeah. Even you can’t be that evil.” Rainbow Dash protested angrily.
“Let’s also add that he has not crossed you in any way.” Rarity said with a sharp glare.
“Hmm, let me think about that.” Chrysalis said in mock thought, “No!”
Chrysalis tugged on Spike’s wings more painfully, causing him to bleed even more and for him to scream again, which was starting to infuriate Twilight, even Tirek and Cozy Glow were starting to look a little grossed out.
“Uh… Chrysalis, are you sure we should be tugging his wings too much?” Cozy Glow questioned. She may have not liked Spike, but out of all the enemies she made, Cozy Glow found him the least annoying, plus this was just gross.
“I agree. If you pull too hard, he will likely die, plus you will waste our bargaining chip.” Tirek told the former Queen of the Changelings. He shared similar sentiments with Cozy Glow, the dragon hardly posed as a threat to him, plus he wouldn’t wish a slow and painful death on any creature.
“Oh please, can’t I let our enemies suffer a little?” Chrysalis smirked villainously.
“Twilight! Chrysalis is gonna kill us if we surrender, I’m doomed either way, just don’t give in!” Spike shouted in a panic.
“I thought I told you to pipe down!” Chrysalis hissed in Spike’s ear as she once again, tugged his wings.
Twilight began to grit her teeth angrily, she was at her wits end with Chrysalis. She had already caused enough trouble in Twilight’s life, especially when she messed with Shining Armor and Cadence. Now she was hurting Twilight’s friend, no, Spike was practically her brother. She couldn’t stand for this.
“Chrysalis! Let him go!” Twilight commanded furiously.
“Like you could make me. Until you agree to surrender, I guess I’ll just have to keep pulling on those wings of his.” Chrysalis said with a haughty smirk before she began to pull more and more on Spike’s wings, each time more painful than the last.
Twilight began to see red, each time Chrysalis tugged on Spike’s wings, she got more and more angry, her horn began flaring, but unlike the magenta aura it usually had, it was turning more and more red.
“Uh… what’s happening?” Pinkie Pie began asking with concern and a bit of fear.
“I don’t know but something tells me Chrysalis won’t be coming out of this unscathed.” Applejack whispered to the party planner.
Twilight soon spread her wings and fired a fiery blast near Chrysalis’s hooves, being careful not to hit Spike in the process, she, Tirek, and Cozy Glow were soon caught by the blast and fell unconscious, with Grogar’s bell and Spike falling near Twilight.
Twilight looked concerned seeing Spike’s weakened state and reached out to him, “Spike, can you hear me?” She asked, her voice wavering at seeing him, blood was dripping from the corners of his wings, and there was pool of his blood near him, it was clear Spike was really hurt.
“Th-The bell… take it… now.” Spike begged weakly.
Twilight turned to the bell, Spike was right, she needed to focus on that before the villains woke up.
Twilight enveloped the bell with her magic, which was now back to it’s magenta color and hovered over the three unconscious villains, she had seen a book on how Grogar’s bell worked, and even memorized the spell to learn about it’s magic. She used her magic on the bell, and soon it blasted the trio of villains with it’s magic, draining the villains of the magic they formerly had. Now they were not much of a threat.
Twilight then turned to where Spike was and saw that Rainbow Dash was carrying him in her hooves as she hovered with her wings with the rest of her friends nearby, all looking very concerned for Spike. Rainbow Dash was cringing, though that was understandable due to Spike’s state.
“So… what do we do now?” Rainbow Dash asked awkwardly.
“Get Spike to a hospital. Obviously!” Twilight rolled her eyes in annoyance, “What else would we do?”
“Well there’s unifying the Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi again, freeing the Princesses, Pillars, Starlight, and maybe Discord, and dealing with the villains, though I don’t know where to start.” Applejack pointed out, feeling just as awkward as Rainbow Dash was. She couldn’t blame Twilight for her annoyance, she just witnessed her first and closest friend get tortured by a sadistic Changeling. Naturally she’d be angry.
“Hey girls, I don’t think we have to worry about unifying the other ponies. Look!” Pinkie Pie said with a hint of happiness, the rest of her friends looked to see a bunch of ponies, dragons, changelings, yaks, griffons, and hippogriffs at the nearby hill.
Thorax was currently flying above the mountain with the other flying creatures, any creature that wasn’t flying was on top of the mountain themselves.
He was shocked to see the villains were already unconscious, though given they were facing the Elements Of Harmony, that was probably to be expected.
Thorax was confused on what the six ponies were doing down there, it was pretty far, he couldn’t see what was going on very well, though it appeared Rainbow Dash was holding something.
‘Wait a minute, isn’t Spike usually with them?’ Thorax thought curiously.
Thorax knew Twilight and Spike well enough to know that Spike almost never left Twilight’s side, especially in this type of crisis and he couldn’t see Spike anywhere, but Rainbow Dash appeared to be holding something small.
‘No. They didn’t.’ Thorax thought in horror.
Apparently Ember shared his sentiments and spoke up to him, “I can’t find Spike but the cyan pegasus is holding something small, and I have a bad feeling I know what or who it is.” Ember told the Changeling King.
Thorax nodded fearfully before turning to the group, “Me and Ember are gonna go down to Twilight and see what’s going on. Stay up here. It’ll be too much chaos if all of us go down.” Thorax told the rest of the Equestrian citizens.
“Of course. It’s probably the best idea.” Chancellor Neighsay nodded in understanding before Thorax and Ember flew downwards to the heroes and their fears turned out to be true as Rainbow Dash had an injured Spike in her hooves, though thankfully, he wasn’t bleeding as much.
“Wh-What happened to him?” Thorax said in horror.
“H-He was taken by Chrysalis during the battle.” Fluttershy stammered, “She kept pulling and tugging his wings so we’d surrender.”
“All of us were afraid to do anything at first, out of fear she would outright rip his wings off.” Rarity continued with a regretful glance towards Spike.
“But then Twilight’s horn suddenly got all red and she got all angry looking and blasted Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow to the ground and took their magic away with the bell that belonged to some old goat, I think his name was Gregory.” Pinkie Pie finished.
“I still don’t get how you were able to do that. We’ve never seen you do that before.” Applejack turned to Twilight who seemed to be in thought after what she heard, ultimately she had an explanation.
“It’s probably due to the rage I was feeling from how Chrysalis was treating Spike. Starlight told me she had a similar experience with Trixie, except Starlight didn’t attack her. Starlight got so angry with Trixie, her magic formed a big red cloud. It’s probably different with me since I’m an Alicorn.” Twilight explained.
“I can’t blame her. I think I’d have breathed a humongous breath of fire on those villains with my fire breath if I saw what she was doing.” Ember admitted before checking Spike’s heartbeat, it was faint but he was still alive.
“He’s alive, thank goodness, but Spike needs to get medical assistance immediately.” Ember told the ponies sternly.
“I know. I’m taking him to a hospital nearby right now. You all need to deal with the villains and free the prisoners that they captured, it should be easy since we have enough creatures assisting.” Twilight told the group as she took Spike from Rainbow Dash.
“What do you mean you should take him to the hospital? I’m the fastest flyer here!” Rainbow Dash said angrily, she cared about Spike as much as the rest of her friends, and figured she would get him to medical care faster.
“Yes, but you are also reckless, and Spike is in critical condition. I only trust myself to fly him to get medical assistance fast and effectively.” Twilight said sternly before flying away from her friends with Spike in her hooves.
Twilight didn’t know what to expect next but her top priority now was making sure Spike was safe.
Discord kept biting on his eagle claw and lion paw as he and the other prisoners waited for any creature to return.
He needed to know that all of his friends were safe from harm, though if he were being honest, he was pretty much the closest with Fluttershy and Spike, maybe Twilight too on her good days.
Either way, he cared about all of them, and didn’t want anything bad to happen to them.
“You think they’re okay out there?” Discord asked his fellow prisoners.
Starswirl then turned to glare at the Draconequus from his goo cage, “Well Discord. Tirek, Cozy Glow, and Chrysalis have been beefed up by Grogar’s bell so there’s no guarantee Twilight and her friends will get out of this unscathed.”
Starlight looked downtrodden before turning to Discord with a sad look, “I have to agree here Discord. I’m nervous myself. Twilight and our friends are experienced with saving the world but without the Elements Of Harmony and with the amount of magic the three villains have, I…I don’t know if I’ll ever see Twilight again, or Spike, or Trixie, or Sunburst, or Maud, or…”
“Starlight!” Luna shouted in the unicorn’s ear, causing Starlight to jolt and stop speaking.
“I’m terribly sorry Starlight Glimmer but you were spiraling. I needed to make sure we didn’t lose you there.” Luna said softly.
Starlight took a deep breath and spoke, “No. I get it Luna. Thank you, I needed that.”
Discord sighed in sadness, he didn’t mean for everything to be such a mess, now his friends were all mad at him, the ponies were divided, and now Starlight was starting to get panic attacks. He really hoped Twilight would get here soon.
Soon Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy all showed up at the prison area with two white pegasi Royal Guards members.
Discord felt a strange mixture of relief and worry, if they were here that meant things were likely back to normal but he didn’t see Twilight or Spike anywhere.
“I’m guessing Equestria has been saved?” Starswirl asked carefully.
“Yep. The ponies and all the other creatures pitched in and turned in those villains to the Royal Guard, they’re heading to the Canterlot dungeons where they’ll have some magic restraints on.” Applejack explained with a sigh.
“Wait. Where’s Twilight and Spike?” Celestia asked in concern.
“Are they alright?” Starlight asked with equal amount of worry.
Fluttershy soon began tearing up and then burst out sobbing, Discord knew that meant nothing but bad things.
“W-What happened? Are Twilight and Spike okay? Please, I’ll try to help in any way I can.” Discord asked with his voice wavering, he wanted to know what was happening, he also wanted Fluttershy to stop crying, but he knew he could only get one of these things to happen.
As the Royal Guard members destroyed the throne pieces blocking the prisoner’s magic so they could escape, Rainbow Dash gritted her teeth and glared venomously at Discord, this was all his fault, he caused this to happen.
“You’ve helped quite enough you prick! If the word help is even in your vocabulary!” Rainbow Dash shouted furiously.
“Rainbow! Calm down!” Applejack commanded sternly, she was mad at Discord as much as Rainbow Dash was, but fighting was not going to help matters.
“Oh I’m sorry! I was just concerned about my friends’ well being! Celestia forbid I ask such valuable questions!” Discord said furiously.
“You just make everything worse! All you do is cause chaos, and not the good kind like Pinkie does!” Rainbow Dash argued angrily.
“Oh and I suppose you’re a radiant angel, I’m sure we all remember your so-called harmless pranks or the time you nobly tried to stop winter from happening because you couldn’t handle that your pet was going to hibernate!” Discord snapped back, he was upset at himself for what he did too, but Rainbow Dash was treating him like Equestrian scum even though he just wanted to know how his friends were doing, so he felt his rage at her was justified.
“You’re the one who literally let three villains on the loose and thanks to you, Spike is injured!” Rainbow Dash yelled with a piercing glare.
Discord’s eyeballs became the size of pinpricks, Spike had gotten injured?
“Wh-What?” Discord asked in horror as the now freed Celestia, Luna, Starlight, and Pillars gasped at this new knowledge.
“You heard me! Chrysalis tried to use Spike as a bargaining chip to get us to stop fighting, she kept tugging his wings, threatening to break them off, he lost a lot of blood and now Twilight’s getting him to a hospital and it’s all because of you!” Rainbow Dash said full with fury at the Lord Of Chaos.
“No. You-You’re lying. You’re just trying to make me feel like crap because you need an outlet for your anger.” Discord denied with an angered look, although tears were threatening to pour out his eyes.
“Well I’m not lying. Ask the others, they’ll tell you.” Rainbow Dash gestured to Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and the still weeping Fluttershy.
“Pinkie Pie. Spike’s not injured is he?” Discord asked with a hopeful smile.
“Uh… I don’t think I can answer that.” Pinkie Pie said awkwardly.
“Fluttershy?” Discord asked, fear starting to show in his eyes.
“I…I…” Fluttershy couldn’t answer, she was still crying.
“Rarity?” Discord asked, desperate to hear that his friend was okay.
“I’m not going to lie to you Discord. Spike is indeed injured, he was bleeding pretty badly, and he’s unconscious.” Rarity looked away, still hurt from what has transpired.
“We don’t know if he’ll be okay Discord. I’m sorry to say it, but Spike’s in bad condition.” Applejack told him, she knew Discord screwed up but she’d be lying if she said she didn’t feel sympathy for what was going through his head.
“Surely there might be a healing spell for this?” Starlight asked desperately to Celestia and Luna, Spike was one of Starlight’s good friends, if she could heal him with a spell, she would willingly do so.
“I’m afraid of the injury is as severe as Rarity and Rainbow Dash have said they are, then a healing spell will not be so effective.” Celestia sighed somberly.
“Oh no.” Starlight squeaked out with widened eyes.
Discord couldn’t believe it, Chrysalis had actually done it. She actually put Spike in critical condition, she nearly tore his wings off, and the worst part is that he caused this.
He looked to see the faces of all the other ponies in the room, the Pillars looked downtrodden, Rarity was just barely keeping it together, Pinkie Pie looked depressed, Applejack looked forlorn, Celestia and Luna were devastated, Starlight looked like she was going to panic, and Fluttershy was still crying.
“What have I done?” Discord whispered to himself, “It’s all my fault.” He covered his eyes as he began to cry.
Spike’s vision felt foggy, he didn’t know where he was, but he felt a ringing in his ear, after a while, it became clearer and he saw he was in some yellow walled room and was on a bed, under some white sheets.
“Ugh… what happened?” Spike asked groggily as he looked around.
Spike began to think back to his previous memories, he and the girls were fighting off Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow for Grogar’s bell. He seemed to draw a blank after those events however, though his memory was certainly cloudy.
Soon a tall orange stallion in a doctor’s uniform with a shining sunset as his cutie mark walked in the room.
“Oh good, you’re finally awake.” The stallion sighed with relief, “I am Doctor Sunbeam.” The stallion known as Sunbeam introduced himself, “You were brought here after how much Chrysalis had damaged your wings. You can thank Twilight Sparkle for this, if she hadn’t gotten you here sooner, you might be in worse condition.”
Spike’s eyes widened, he then looked to his sides to see his wings had been bandaged and were held up by some medical equipment.
He now remembered what happened, Chrysalis had held him as ransom to get Twilight to surrender, but then she started to torture him by pulling his wings, leading Twilight to knock the villains out with her magic. He drew a blank after telling her to get the bell however.
“What happened to the villains?” Spike asked in concern, he figured they had lost the battle but he wanted to know their fate.
“They were defeated, given Equestria is still standing and all. They were sent to the Canterlot dungeons with magic restraints placed on Chrysalis and Tirek, rest assured, they will not be a threat for a long time.” Sunbeam explained.
Spike sighed in relief, at least that problem was extinguished for now but he still wondered one thing, “How’s Twilight doing?”
“She seemed very worried for you.” Sunbeam admits sympathetically, “Understandable, given everything you two have been through. She outright pleaded us to ensure your survival.”
“R…Really?” Spike asked sadly, he didn’t think this would affect Twilight that badly. He knew Twilight had a tendency to freak out but she didn’t think she would be this worried.
‘Oh Twilight…’ Spike drifted his eyes upwards in sadness.
Back in the Castle Of Friendship, Twilight was tossing and turning in her sleep in her bed.
Suddenly Twilight woke up, but found herself underground, with crystal walls.
“Recognize this place Princess Twilight?” A familiar haunting voice was heard.
Twilight found herself angered at the voice, she knew exactly who it belonged to.
“Chrysalis! Show yourself!” Twilight growled.
Chrysalis soon rose from the ground, in green flames with a sadistic smirk, she also had have Grogar’s bell and seemed to be powered up like she was last time when she had it.
“Welcome back Twilight Sparkle to the caves beneath Canterlot. I do hope you feel a wave of nostalgia from this wonderful place.” Chrysalis said, walking over to Twilight.
“What do you want from me? We both know I can take you on just fine with or without Grogar’s bell.” Twilight said as she flared up her horn.
“Oh Twilight. You think I didn’t come unprepared. I think I have something you might just want to know about.” Chrysalis smirked villainously before she lit up her horn and soon some crystals spiked up behind her and a green bubble appeared with Spike inside it, who still had his wings damaged from the battle.
“Twilight!” Spike cried out in fear, which struck fear into Twilight herself.
“Spike!” Twilight fruitlessly reached a hoof out in despair.
Chrysalis just chuckled villainously and smiled, “I see I have your attention. You best surrender to me now Princess Twilight, or I shall pop that little safety bubble and let the dragon drop, which he will then become a scaly kabob. A pity for him, but I could care less.”
Twilight looked at how fearful Spike looked to Chrysalis who was smirking.
“Not gonna happen.” Twilight angrily refused before blasting Chrysalis, letting Chrysalis scream in pain before falling to the ground.
Twilight then flew up to the ceiling of the cave to try and reach Spike but Chrysalis soon used her magic to blast the bubble Spike was in, letting him drop, and given his wings were badly injured, he could not fly to save himself.
Twilight fearfully tried to catch him, but it didn’t look to be good for Spike and as soon as he made contact with the rocks.
A flash of light caused Spike and the jagged rocks to disappear, along with Chrysalis.
“Spike! Spike! Where are you?! I can’t lose you!” Twilight began flying all over the cave with tears until she saw a shadow loom above her. She looked up to see Princess Luna flying above her.
Luna soon flew downwards to Twilight so they were face to face, “Calm down Princess Twilight Sparkle, Spike is alive and safe at the Canterlot Hospital. This is all just a dream.”
Twilight let herself tear up as she floated to the ground, before letting herself cry.
“It all felt so real. Chrysalis’ threats and Spike plummeting to his…” Twilight spoke tearfully.
“Dreams can tend to play tricks on us Twilight. I remember back when I had to help the Cutie Mark Crusaders with their nightmares and I also recall the time where Starlight had that nightmare about me and Celestia turning into evil incarnations of ourselves. However, I do not recall ever seeing a nightmare as severe as this.” Luna explained, “Clearly something in that fated battle affected you in more ways than one.”
“It did. During the battle, Chrysalis held Spike as ransom for us to surrender. She began tugging and pulling at the wings, and I had to hear him scream for dear life until I just couldn’t take it anymore.” Twilight explained sadly, “I felt a swirl of emotions, fear for Spike’s life, hatred towards Chrysalis, and powerless to stop her before my burst of anger.”
Twilight collapsed to the ground once again and spoke again, “But most of all I felt guilt for letting this happen to Spike. He’s practically my brother, I should have kept an eye to make sure any of the villains wouldn’t kill him.”
Luna lifted Twilight’s chin towards her and began speaking, “Twilight, I can say with utmost certainty that you are not to blame for this. It is Chrysalis who decided to do what she did. You were in the midst of saving Equestria, it is understandable to not plan out every variable under that pressure.”
“Maybe… but I still feel horrible for what happened to Spike.” Twilight sighed, “If I had took precautions, maybe he would be safe.”
“Well Twilight, the best way to tackle this issue to lean on your friends for help, perhaps even those who share similar sentiments.” Luna said before lighting up her horn and casting a bright light.
Twilight soon woke up with a start and found herself in her room, she looked out her window and saw the sun was rising.
The door to her room soon opened and her door opened for her to find Starlight entering, “Sorry to disturb you Twilight, I figured I should wake you up now. I think we both shouldn’t be alone at this time.”
Twilight thought about Starlight’s words and sighed, “Yeah. Me neither.”
She then hugged Starlight, even though it did little to make her feel better, it certainly gave her more comfort than she was previously feeling.
