You know the darkest day somepony can have in Equestria? It’s when a dragon who’s a friend to all of Equestria loses his memory. It’s amazing how just one singular creature has such a big effect on everyone. Today we’re all going to learn that as we take a glimpse at how the world fares when Spike gets amnesia.
Trixie could only look on in horror at what she just did.
Just earlier she was trying to practice a spell to create smoke clouds with her magic in Twilight’s library, what she didn’t count on was a beam of magic shooting out and zapping Spike who was innocently organizing. Sure it made a cloud of smoke appear alright but now Spike was unconscious on the floor, heavily breathing as well.
Oh Celestia, did I almost kill him? I-I couldn’t have. I’d never do such a thing. Oh, what are Twilight and Starlight gonna say?
She shook off her concerns and focused on what she could do to help Spike right now. She knew leaving him on the floor was not an option, so maybe letting him sleep in his bed would be more appropriate and help healing him… maybe.
Trixie then levitated Spike on her back and looked around to find the dragon’s room, luckily it wasn’t too far away and she immediately rested his head on a pillow so he would be comfortable.
Now what could she do? Maybe she could leave him like this? Twilight and Starlight wouldn’t suspect a thing if he was just laying in bed. He is a baby dragon.
No, what was she thinking? If her experiences with Starlight taught her anything was that keeping this hidden wouldn’t help at all. She needed to tell them what happened. She just hoped Starlight wouldn’t lash out. . . . . . . “You did WHAT?!” Starlight asked incredulously as she and Twilight were confronting Trixie in the map room. Yeah, in all honesty Trixie expected such a reaction.
“I swear. I wasn’t aiming for him as a test subject.” Trixie spoke in her defense, “I was just trying to practice making smoke clouds with magic… y’know so I don’t waste my bits on smoke bombs all the time and then a beam of smoke blasts through my horn without my control and hit Spike which knocked him out! H-He’s in his room recovering, Trixie is- I mean I’m so sorry.”
“Ugh! Trixie! I told you to wait for me to finish helping Twilight with the schedule for the school before practicing that spell! I wasn’t gonna be gone for that long!” Starlight said angrily.
Twilight noticed the tension between the two friends and quickly intervened, “Alright, calm down Starlight. I’m upset with her too, but right now we should focus on Spike’s health.”
Starlight quickly calmed down at the alicorn’s words and took a breath, “Okay, I’m calm. Let’s just go check up on him.”
As the three mares headed towards Spike’s room, Trixie felt a looming dread, Twilight may have been being calm about this but she could tell that she was upset by what Trixie just pulled. Ultimately, Twilight would likely forgive her for this, but Trixie knew Starlight was pretty close with the dragon as well and she has already felt she was on thin ice with her after putting up with her annoying antics for so long, maybe this’ll be the day she finally snaps. She not only hurt Starlight but someone she cared about.
Soon they finally reached Spike’s room and once Twilight opened the door, she saw that Spike was beginning to wake up much to her relief.
Twilight walked in so Starlight and Trixie could get inside themselves and spoke with a calm smile, “He seems fine so far, you can come in.”
Starlight sighed, likely releasing a breath she didn’t know she was holding and Trixie could not blame her, she’d probably do the same thing if it was Starlight herself in that position.
Spike finally opened his eyes and began rubbing his head, probably due to a headache.
“Hey Spike, how are you feeling?” Twilight asked the dragon softly, clearly concerned about his condition.
“Well… my head definitely hurts and…” Spike began before gaining a look of confusion.
“Wait… do I know you?” Spike raised an eyebrow.
Trixie immediately gained a look of horror as Starlight did too, both fearing that the worst had happened.
But Twilight was nothing but persistent as she remained hopeful that this was a clever prank,“Spike, come on. This isn’t funny. You just got hit with a beam of magic. We want to know if you’re okay.” Twilight said patiently but stern.
“No, I’m being serious. I have no idea who I am or who you are or what I’m doing here. Wh-Why am I in a room with ponies? This is so confusing!” Spike spoke in confusion and fear, it was so genuine that even Twilight could understand what just happened.
Spike lost his memory.
Twilight just couldn’t handle the implications of this situation and began tearing up a storm, something that Spike was quick to notice.
“Why are you crying?” Spike asked, despite the fact he didn’t remember her, he absolutely hated to see the alicorn this upset.
“I-I need some time alone. You two watch over Spike.” Twilight told the two unicorns, Starlight nodded sympathetically, understanding the severity of what’s going on while Trixie was still reeling in what she just caused before Twilight walked off, most likely to cry some more.
“Why is she so upset?” Spike asked Starlight and Trixie who struggled to answer before Starlight came up with an excuse.
“She… she lost somepo- no, someone really close to her.” Starlight said sadly, “It was recent too, so she had to let out her emotions.”
“Oh… I’m sorry for her loss.” Spike said in concern, “Anything I can do?”
“You just stay here for now. For now we need to help you first and I think it’ll help if you don’t get overwhelmed with everything in the outside world.” Starlight smiled comfortingly at the dragon.
“That’s fair.” Spike nodded, he didn’t know who this pony was but he felt he could trust her word on that.
“Cool. Let’s get out of here Trixie.” Starlight told the stage magician sternly and Trixie silently followed but not before casting an apologetic look at Spike.
Once Starlight and Trixie left the room and headed further down the hallway, Starlight gave Trixie a furious glare which worried her as she knew Starlight was really nice but she had a temper, especially if her friends got hurt. This was one of those times.
“St-Starlight… please don’t be mad at me. I swear, I-I never meant for this to happen. Let’s not say or do anything we’ll regret.” Trixie begged as she backed away further from the unicorn.
To her surprise, Starlight just did nothing but let her eyes water but she kept her glare, “I wasn’t lying to Spike you know. Twilight DID lose someone, but it wasn’t by death.”
After that, Starlight walked off and Trixie let the words Starlight just said sink in, she was right. Spike losing his memory could easily qualify as losing Spike in a metaphorical sense because Spike without his memories really isn’t Spike anymore even if he is still alive.
Twilight didn't know what to do. She didn't understand how spike lost his memory. what can she do to help him?
Just then she was with starlight doing something important until trixie told them what happened. Twilight couldn't believe that Spike has..forgotten her and possibly her friends. Twilight heard a door open as she turned around to see it was pinkie. "Twilight.." Pinkie spoke as she trot to twilight "I heard what happened! i just cant believe spike forgot about everything! i..i just wanted to make sure..how your feeling.." Pinkie has her hair straight and tail straight aswell its not the same happy pinkie at all. "pinkie..i-i dont know what to do! spike h-he.." Pinkie shushed her and hugged her tightly, Twilight sobbed onto Pinkie's shoulder.
'What am i going to do..? i cant leave twilight like this!' Pinkie started to think on how to cheer her up. but what can she do?
Pinkie thought of an idea and quickly sprinted into action "Twilight, maybe you can help spike remember who he was. you know try to get his memory back!" Twilight knew she was right as she slowly calmed down. "I guess your right pinkie but I don't know where to start!" twilight tried to think whatever she could do to help Spike. She had an idea but she wasn't sure if it'll work. she has to try or she wont get her son back.
Pinkie pie smiled as she let go of twilight, After all she and Twilight have been together since after Canterlot wedding. Twilight snapped Pinkie pie out of it by clapping her hooves "you okay Pinkie? I know this is hard for you..Since spike..." Twilight trailed off as Pinkie shaked her head "nono it's not that Twily, It's because I'm worried about you. I know how you and spike been through together I just never went through that stuff like you guys did! But it definitely hurts that he lost memories of all of us.."
Now what could Pinkie do? Maybe she has a chance to spend time with spike! Maybe she can do things with spike and twilight. Maybe a family spending..?
Yes, That could work! she can spend time with spike and twilight and help Spike regain his memories! this is perfect! but what about Zecora? she can regain spike's memory. Maybe she'll go later, she has to be there for twilight and spike.
Later in the throne room...
“SHE WHAT??" Rainbow dash the multi colored Cyan mare yelled as The Farmer pony yelled at rainbow "Rainbow dash! what ah say about yellin' and bein' angry?" Rainbow dash glared at Applejack "This is different applejack! look at this?! Spike has lost his MEMORY! he doesn't even know who we are!" Applejack sighed she knew theres no stopping rainbow dash. "Now dash ah get what trixie did was..wrong." Applejack blankly stared at trixie as the rest of the girls glared at trixie.
“I swear. Twilight and Pinkie entered the room, getting the girl's attention as Starlight asked "Twilight, are you feeling better?" Twilight smiled a little and nodded "yes I suppose I do..Thanks to pinkie pie" Twilight nuzzled her marefriend before departing from her.

Pinkie pie walked in and spoke calmly "Hey spike..How are you? I know you don't remember anything but..what's the last thing you remember?" Spike thought about it and looked back at pinkie "I don't even know, I think I fell asleep?" he wasn't sure about his answer.
The rest of the girls wasn't sure of how to react at all, Twilight seemed like she wants to cry but she kept it in. Aj sighed and spoke "Hey it's alright if ya can't remember nothin' but ya can trust us." Aj softly smiled at the baby dragon although Pinkie wasn't having it.
Pinkie pie grit her teeth silently and took a deep breath "spike..do you trust us..? I know you dont remember any of us but can you trust us and help you regain memories? or maybe take you to..to the hospital or something.." The girls were surprised that Pinkie talked normal instead of blabbering and being energetic, they find it pretty weird that Pinkie is way too normal.
“I can try to trust you um ponies i suppose! uh sorry i dont know your names..” Spike said worryingly as he pokes his claws together. Pinkie shaked her head "no its okay, I understand. My name is pinkie pie! One of the best party planner and baker, and I'm the marefriend of Princess twilight" pinkie said as she pointed at twilight and looked back at the baby dragon.
“Oh nice to meet you! and..uhm..it's weird that im in a room with ponies..sorry if this is awkward" Twilight gave spike a faint smile as she sighs "It's alright spike. I'm Twilight sparkle and princess of friendship, I dont use my title as much so please call me Twilight, As Pinkie said, I'm her marefriend, I-i..I hope we..get along well.." Twilight tried not having a voice crack at the end as she looked away from spike. The girls felt bad for twilight, she got it rough since she knew and knows spike for years.
"Ah'll go next, Ah'm Applejack, ya can call me Aj fer short. Ah work in a farm, ah sell apples and doin' harvestin' Ah know ya don't remember me Spike but ah hope we get along once again by meetin' once again, and overall Ah'm the marefriend of Rainbow dash." Rainbow smirked at Aj but Aj gave her a glare and Rd rolled her eyes. "oh thats nice! um nice to meet you applejack.." aj nodded and smiled softly at the dragon.
Rainbow dash flew down and cleared her throat "hey! I'm Rainbow dash! I'm one of the wonderbolt leaders and weather patrol Chef! I also watch over ponyvillie! which I guess it counts as a Job. Aj is my marefriend and I'm also the element of Loyalty." Rainbow dash did much expression by introducing herself as the dragon is very impressed "that's really cool! nice to meet you rainbow dash!" RD smirked at Aj and well Aj gave RD a harden stare "oh come on! admit it mine is better!" Aj growled "ya wish!" The rest of the girls sighed and chuckled.
"um..I guess i'm um next..Hi..I'm Fluttershy, I take care of the animals and um..i'm the element of kindness..um..sorry if it was short...I wasn't sure what else to say.." Spike gave fluttershy a smile "its Okay! nice to meet you fluttershy!" The shy pony smiled and replied "of course spike.." Twilight however was or is still worried about the whole thing, she wasn't sure if he'll ever get his memory back..everything they have shared is GONE..How will she get it back? how will it get better? with all these questions are unanswered.
Pinkie pie eyed on her marefriend and worried about her, But she has to stay positive and strong, she needs to cheer up her friends and she will help Spike regain her memory just about thinking a plan. Rarity went up next to introduce herself. "Hello darling! My name is rarity belle! Element of Generosity! I make dresses and sell them! I have a younger sibling named sweetie belle, I hope we get along really well and regain your memory Darling." Spike stared at rarity and smiled genuinely "Nice to meet you rarity! I'm sure we'll get along well!" The girls chuckled at Spike being..really himself but the only difference is him not remembering who they are.
Starlight sighs and spoke up "I'm Starlight Glimmer, Pupil of Princess of friendship and Trixie.." Starlight looked at trixie for a second and looked back at spike "trixie is my friend and well there's not much to say about me i guess." Starlight shrugged at the end of her statement. "oh nice to meet you!..wait arent you the one who told me that twilight lost someone..?" Starlight nodded "Oh i guess that confirms that..well nice to see you uh again!"
Twilight wanted to scream, she wanted to yell and cry out but she cant..Not infront of everypony. She needs to stay strong for spike and the girls, She cant let them down. "hey girls.." Pinkie said outloud for everypony to look at her "I have to go somewhere, I have to ask somepony something, I was wondering if you gals wont mind if i go somewhere.." The girls looked at each other and smiled "of course Pinkie! what's wrong with going anywhere?? I think everypony is stressed so I'm sure its okay. Also twilight can we stay here for awhile? so we can help you regain spike's memory?" RD asked as she flew down infront of the alicorn.
Twilight smiled at her friends "yeah of course..Thanks girls and Pinkie please stay safe, I don't want you hurt once you come back okay?" Pinkie chuckled "don't worry My Star! I wont get hurt! I pinkie promise! I'll be back before you know it! see you later gals!" Pinkie bounced away and heard the door shut behind them.
Soon as Pinkie shut the door she knew where to go and who to talk to Before that though she needs supplies! she grabbed her saddle bag (not sure how it's spelled so let me know) and grabbed a few books. "now im ready.." she said to herself as she casually trotted and bounces out of the castle..to the everfree forest.
Once She arrived to the everfree forest, she looked back at the castle and sighed "I promise you'll get your memory back spike. no matter how much adventures I have to go! I wont fail you and the girls, nor fail twilight." and with that she begins her adventure and fully enters the everfree forest.
Pinkie wondered around the everfree forest she begins to wonder how twilight feel about all of this, will she be able to pull through? she cant turn back right now, She needs to talk to sompony. meanwhile..
“Well since Pinkie left what should we all do?" RD asked as Twilight looked at them "well first things first we um leave spike for his own thoughts and we need to discuss and settle in." starlight agreed with that as the girls also agreed. "Then it's settled. lets scatter, we'll..leave you alone spike.." Spike waved at them as they leave his room.
“Okay now that we're out here. Trixie, You seriously like being in trouble, I'm NOT even sure if I'm able to forgive you." RD said angrily "Trixie is..- i mean I'm sorry for causing spike like that! I swear!" RD huffed at her "now nelly, lets not fight, we gotta stay strong fer spike. we can fight another time. now come on, lets get goin." the girls agreed as they left.
Pinkie pie almost arrived to the place as she looked around her surroundings "Heheh I never knew it was this scary! I wonder why it's called everfree forest! maybe because there were missing ponies here? oh who knows! probably some legend stories." Pinkie pie continued her trotting as she kept wondering about spike.
(small flashback) "HEYYYY SPIKKEE!!" Spike yelped and fell down the chair. "pinkiee! stop scaring me like that!" Pinkie pie chuckled "whoops! sorry Spike! didn't mean to scare you that way!!" spike sighed and chuckled "its okay! its actually funny!"
"Pinkie what did I say about scaring Spike?" Pinkie giggled "sorry Mi amor I cant help it! i just like surprising everypony!" Twilight smiled and nuzzled her "I know and that's what I love about you, But take it easy on spike okay? hes a baby dragon and he could hurt himself." Pinkie nodded "Okay I will! sorry again spike!" spike smiled and hugged pinkie "its fine really! im not a baby dragon!" Spike grumbled at twilight as she rolled her eyes "uhuh sure."
“Oh come on twilight! it was only ONE timeee!!" Twilight laughed "it was more than one time spike, but if you insist!" Pinkie fell down of laughter "you guys are so funny!" {end of flash back.}
Pinkie pie smiled at the memory as she laughed while trotting "now thats a memory I should always remember! maybe i should introduce my parents to twilight..come on pinkie pie we're almost there! I dont have time to have remembrance!" she trotted faster.
Soon as Pinkie pie arrived at Zecora's hut, Pinkie took three deep breaths and thought of spike and twilight. She has and needs to do this. Pinkie pie knocked on Zecora's door as The door slowly opened..It was Zecora. She looked confused.
