"So, let me get this straight. You think you know of a way for me to fly?" Scootaloo said in pure disbelief.
"In a way," Fluttershy meekly said. "Though we'll need Rainbow Dash, and we'll have to make a trip into the Everfree Forest," she sighed as an extremely excited Scootaloo pranced around her.
"Alright! You get ready to go into the Everfree, and I'll get Rainbow Dash!" Scootaloo eagerly exclaimed before racing off into Ponyville.
"Well, better gather supplies," Fluttershy sighed as she, Angel, and some of the animals started to pack for a trip into the Everfree.
"Rainbow Dash? Rainbow Dash?" Scootaloo kept loudly asking as she raced through Ponyville. Looking all over the village, Scootaloo couldn't find hide or hair of the mare. "Oh, Twilight. Have you seen Rainbow Dash anywhere? I need her for something important," she asked as she eagerly pranced in place.
"I believe she's in the School of Friendship's gym helping the cheer squad at the moment," Twilight told Scootaloo. "Why do you need Rainbow Dash soo much?"
"Oh well, Fluttershy thinks she knows of a way for me to fly! Only, it involves Rainbow Dash and Zecora," Scootaloo told Twilight.
"A way to fly? Rainbow Dash and Zecora? Hmmm, I'm guessing it's a potion of some kind. If it really works, you'll have to let me know. That'll solve a long-standing problem for the children born of a pegasus and earth pony. Or well, I suppose I'll see you flying," Twilight smiled as she looked at Scootaloo, only to see her gone. "Hah, was I just talking to myself for the past minute or two," she sighed as she went on with her day.
"Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash!" Scootaloo excitedly yelled as she raced through the halls of the School of Friendship.
"Oh, hey, Squirt. What has you so riled up?" Rainbow Dash asked as Scootaloo burst into the gym.
"It's Fluttershy! She thinks that she knows of a way for me to fly! Only, I need you and Zecora," Scootaloo excitedly exclaimed as she zoomed around Rainbow Dash.
"That's great, Squirt! Though, why would it take both me and Zecora? Meh, questions for later. Hey Smolder, you can handle the clean-up, right?" Rainbow Dash asked as she turned to the cheer squad.
"Yeah, it's just a few things that shouldn't take too long," Smolder assured.
"Great. Then I'll leave it to the squad to finish up. Remember, check in with Starlight Glimmer when you leave. Now Squirt, let's get you airborne," Rainbow Dash told an ever more excited Scootaloo.
"Best day ever!" Scootaloo happily responded as she followed Rainbow Dash out of the school and towards Fluttershy's cottage.
"So, I don't suppose you know anything about Fluttershy's idea, do you?" Rainbow Dash asked as she racked her mind.
"Nope! Well, when Fluttershy mentioned it, Angel started to chuckle, or at least, he appeared to," Scootaloo responded.
"Hmmm, Fluttershy wouldn't do anycreature dirty. But Angel chuckling usually isn't a good sign. Still, Fluttershy does have her moments, like when AJ and I were training her for buckball. And Angel can be nice when he wants to, and he has been getting better recently," Rainbow Dash hummed to herself. "Bah, all this thinking stuff is too annoying. It's better suited for Twilight. I'm sure that we'll be fine," she assured bother herself and Scootaloo.
"That's the spirit, Rainbow Dash!" Scootaloo happily said as Fluttershy's cottage came into view.
"Oh, hey girls," Fluttershy greeted. "I thought you'd still be at practice, Rainbow Dash," she said, slightly surprised at her presence.
"We had just finished up practice. All we had left was clean-up. I left Smolder in charge," Rainbow Dash told Fluttershy.
"Are you sure that's wise?" Fluttershy questioned.
"Smolder is a dragon; who'd mess with a dragon?" Rainbow Dash confidently asked as Fluttershy raised an eyebrow at her. "Oh, right. Well, who other than me? Besides, like any afterschool club, they still have to check out with Starlight. They'll be fine," Rainbow Dash assured.
"If you say so," Fluttershy sighed. "So, I take it that you two are ready to go to Zecora's?"
"Yes," the two responded, Scootaloo happily fluttering for a few moments.
"Alright, let's go then," Fluttershy said as Rainbow Dash led them into the Everfree Forest.
"So Fluttershy, I have to ask, where did you get this idea for Scootaloo to be able to fly?" Rainbow Dash asked as they traversed the maintained path to Zecora's hut.
"Oh, well, I got it from a potion that helped Angel, and I get closer. I suppose it would work if it were just Scootaloo and me, but I figured that it'd be better if you were the other creature," Fluttershy told Rainbow Dash.
"How would a potion that helped you and Angel get closer help Scootaloo fly?" Rainbow Dash asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh, you'll see. I can't go ruining the surprise," Fluttershy lightly giggled into a wing.
"Fluttershy, being mischievous? I'm proud of you," Rainbow Dash teased as she lightly bumped Fluttershy's flank. Making their way through the forest path, the three found themselves in front of Zecora's hut. "Let's hope that she's home," Rainbow said as she knocked on Zecora's door.
"Enter. In my house, I'm at the center," Zecora responded to the knock. Hearing the response, the three entered Zecora's house. "Ah, what do I see? But pegasus three. Tell me, my feathered friends, what brings you to my house on this fine day? If it is within my power, help I may."
"Zecora, do you remember that potion that you gave Angel and me?" Fluttershy asked, to which Zecora nodded. "Can you give the same potion to Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo?"
"Ah, quite the inspired idea that you have, my dear. However, such a thing is not as easy as it would appear. That potion was for healing a rift that formed between two hearts. Making a similar potion for these two will require different parts. How fortunate it is that I should have such ingredients for the task. Some time and a modest payment are all I ask," Zecora told the three.
"I got some bits at home. Will the potion be ready by the time we come back?" Scootaloo asked.
"Oh, my dear, you misunderstand. It is not bits that I demand. Ingredients, foods, and the such are what I want. If you want to drink from a mystical font," Zecora responded.
"Alright. So, what do you want? And how soon will the potion be ready?" Scootaloo asked as Zecora gave the three a list.
"Those items there are what I request. Don't just get me any; I only take the best. Gather them with haste, and I can assure. That the potion will be quite secure," Zecora told the group as she went over to her cupboards.
"It looks like we can get all these in Ponyville. It shouldn't take too long," Fluttershy said as she looked over the list.
"Yeah, be back in; I don't know, maybe an hour or so," Rainbow Dash said as the three left Zecora's hut. "Alright, Scootaloo, you go with Fluttershy to get the things from Ponyville. I'll get the ones from the Everfree. Alright, break!" She commanded as she flew off.
"Just think, soon that'll be me," Scootaloo sighed as Fluttershy giggled. "What?"
"Oh, nothing. You just have no idea how right you are," Fluttershy giggled as she smiled.
"You seem to know something about this potion. Can you tell me anything about it?" Scootaloo asked as she and Fluttershy bought some rather fine herbs.
"I could, but I think that you'll appreciate the surprise. I will tell you this much, though, you will be flying, but it won't be permanent," Fluttershy told Scootaloo.
"I see," Scootaloo solemnly sighed. "But at least I'll be able to fly for a little bit," she said with a bittersweet smile.
"Now, Scootaloo, there's nothing wrong with being unable to fly. There's a lot more to you than just flight," Fluttershy assured.
"I know, and I've been told that by my aunts and my parents. But still, it's always been a dream of mine," Scootaloo sadly sighed. "At least I'll be able to fly for a little while, and who knows, maybe Rainbow Dash will be willing to do this again," she hopefully said.
"Maybe on a day where she has nothing to do," Fluttershy suggested as the two continued to buy the herbs.
"Alright, Zecora, we're back! Now, make up that potion," Rainbow Dash told Zecora as the three gave her the list of things that she needed.
"No need to wait, for that potion is already made. What I had you get was more for trade. All those things, when combined, make for a mighty fine stew. For your reward, a potion that will affect not one but two," Zecora said as she gave Fluttershy two potions. "The blue potion will allow Scootaloo to fly. The red one will undo that tie," she said as Scootaloo eagerly looked at the blue potion.
"Alright, thank you, Zecora," Fluttershy warmly thanked as the three left.
"Give me, give me, give me!" Scootaloo eagerly repeated as she tried to get the blue potion.
"Not here, Scootaloo. Wait until we get to an empty field in Ponyville," Fluttershy told the eager filly. Making their way quickly to Ponyville, the three pegasi went to a large, empty field.
"Alright, this looks good," Rainbow Dash said as she looked at Fluttershy. "Now, we both have to drink that blue potion, right?"
"Yes, you and Scootaloo need to drink it," Fluttershy said with a slight giggle.
"Great! Give me!" Scootaloo eagerly said as she took the blue potion and drank half of it.
"You're really eager, aren't you?" Rainbow Dash teased. "Well, bottoms up," she said as she drank the last half of the potion. After finishing the blue potion, Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo hiccuped before feeling funny.
"Ugh, I feel funny," Rainbow Dash said. "I feel taller. Can I fly now?" She asked as she flew up. "I can fly; this is great!" She happily squeed before looking down. "Wait, why am I down there?"
"And why am I up there?" Scootaloo asked as she looked at Rainbow Dash.
"Surprise!" Fluttershy giggled as she looked at Rainbow Dash.
"Wait, I'm Rainbow Dash? This is awesome!" Scootaloo, in Rainbow's body, squeed as she happily flew around.
"You don't have a problem with this, do you?" Fluttershy asked.
"Well, that red potion will reverse it, so I don't see why not. Let the filly live her dream for a bit," Rainbow Dash, in Scootaloo's body, said with a warm smile.
