Yes. The Crystal Ponies having both Earth and Light magic definitely makes a lot of sense, as already mentioned by other responders.

So, how much did Sunset know about Princess Luna and her past with Celestia before she returns to Equestria at the end of the first Equestria Girls movie? Did she ever believe in the Mare in the Moon story like Twilight did or dismiss it as just an old mare's tale like everyone else did? Granted Sunset probably would've found out Celestia had a sister in Luna anyway even if Princess Celestia herself didn't tell her due to meeting Vice Principal Luna in the human world but how much did she know about the Royal Sisters' past?

Sunset independently learned about the Elements of Harmony and pieced together that the Mare in The Moon was not only real, but, Celestia’s sister from seeing tapestries depicting her in Celestia’s room whenever she was invited there. She felt searching for the original elements would be too difficult and dangerous to accomplish and decided to make new ones herself in case Nightmare Moon came. Despite her best efforts, she wasn’t able to succeed. By the time the 1,000th Summer Sun Celebration came, she felt she’d run out of time. That, combined with her fear of Celestia punishing her for her failures, is what led her to fleeing to the human world. Sunset didn’t know that Celestia was unaware of her project to make new Elements of Harmony.

Pretty good backstory on how much Sunset knew about the Mare in the Moon story.

How about Sunset and Cadance, did they sorta know about each other before the end of the first Equestria Girls movie? Given Sunset is younger than Cadance (being 18 in season 1 while Cadance is in her 20s), that would indicate Cadance became an alicorn princess when Sunset was still Celestia's student. Did they ever meet or even vaguely know about each other?

They met occasionally. Though, Sunset wasn’t as close to Cadance as Twilight was. She was more focused on alchemy.

Something for your series (though it's probably unlikely to be incorporated): Check out My Little Pony Friends Forever Issue 26. In it, Blueblood turns out to be a good negotiator and diplomat when dealing with foreign nations (specifically, Yakistan).

I never got to that part of the comics.

I haven't read the comics either; it (along with the one-shot comic, "Deviations") was discussed on Prince Blueblood's character page on MLP:FiM's TV Tropes page.

Regardless, I feel it would be inappropriate to utilize Blueblood in such a way given what he did.

Quite well said, Blue. Besides, even if you HAD read that far into the comics, it would make more sense to just use Pinkie Pie (who DOES have positive experience with the Yaks herself) as the negotiator anyway.

Yeah. Besides, Blueblood in my take is a shameless speciesist.

A couple more possible lore pieces:

Perhaps the Equestrian version of Wallflower Blush was Sunset Shimmer's best friend before Sunset left for the human world for a few years. Each was one of the comparatively few who was consistently nice to the other. One of the first things Sunset did after returning to Equestria was re-connect with her universe's Wallflower Blush.

Sunset also tries to help Twilight re-connect with Moondancer, but without any success until mid-Season Five (Twilight is willing to make the effort, but Moondancer isn't, no matter how much or how sincerely Twilight tries to apologize). Twilight has already mended fences with all of her other Canterlot friends even before Sunset returned to Equestria, but Moondancer remains that one last REALLY stubborn hold-out.

Also, I'm 50/50 on whether the Equestrian Wallflower Blush is an Earth Pony or a Unicorn that has an Earth Pony parent (and from having one parent who is a Unicorn and one parent who is an Earth Pony, has magic related to plants). Both of those sound equally good for some reason.

What do you think of those?

Thanks.

Of course, whichever one of the two possibilities for Equestrian Wallflower Blush i.e.

1. She is an Earth Pony

or

2. She is a Unicorn that has an Earth Pony parent (and, as such, has magic related to plants)

is entirely up to you.

Maybe Wallflower’s an earth pony capable of using plant magic, something few others know about.

That works pretty well.

Her mother was an earth pony with some unicorn heritage while her father was a unicorn with earth pony heritage.

Pretty good idea. Wonder how Starlight and Sunburst factor in that since they were also close friends with Sunset (Sunburst being Sunset's brother in this version) in childhood with Starlight probably relating with a pony Wallflower on the sadness of Sunset suddenly leaving (whether or not Starlight converts her to her anti-cutie mark ideology from this is up in the air).

Sunset’s disappearance had the biggest impact on Starlight. Wallflower actually witnessed Sunset going through the Crystal Mirror and knew the circumstances surrounding it. Along with Phoebe, Wallflower was among the few in Canterlot who stayed loyal to Sunset unconditionally (Wallflower even using her plant magic to help heal Sunset).

So, how did Sunset spend Nightmare Night before she left for the human world, as well as how she celebrated Halloween when in the human world?

She celebrated Nightmare Night by visiting the fairs at Canterlot and in the human world, her human friends would show her movies pertaining to their costumes after trick or treating.

So, what is Rainbow Blaze's relationship with Bow and Windy (guessing Bow is his brother)? What does he think of their overenthusiastic cheering tendencies on Rainbow Dash?

Blaze is Bow’s brother and he often looked after Rainbow Dash to give her a break from their cheering because he agreed they can be a bit much.
