Hearth's Warming Tidbits 6: Reason For Meat

Here we are, the newest Hearth's Tidbit. This one's subject is actually one of the more important ones since it covers a topic that isn't really looked upon touch in any part of the MLP fandom. That topic is what really qualifies as food for each of these creatures. We know dragon eat gems, ponies enjoy apples and that alicorns seem to adore a good hayburger and cake but what really counts as a good food source for these creatures and many more like them and unlike them. This is the reason for meat....

While yes most ponies eat vegetables, fruits and grains, they aren't too keen on meats. Some may wonder why meat are often on the menu during ancient times. This is because of the movement of other creatures. Griffins have been known to feed off of pork meat while hippogriff prefers fish meat and of course, dragons eat gems. This is remembered well in the lands where these creatures often travel. Despite this adaption to meats there are certain meats not see as right when eaten.

For example, fish is the only thing that can be eaten raw nothing else, whether it pork meat, cow meat or even… pony meat. Such sight of raw eating is feared by many of the lands. None really question it, not even the alicorns which are ironic since they have the widest range of foods to feast on.

The only creatures that have openly feasted on raw meat are the wendigoes. This isn't the main they are fear, but it is one of the more potent reasons. The creatures often feared for many reasons by many different species, but this taste for raw flesh is the one thing that shares the commonality in their fears. For this fear and many other fears the wendigoes pushed far from society. Often found forest and in the far reaches of the sky the wendigoes wait... as if in their own fear.
