Hearth's Warming Tidbit 6.5: The Winter Solstice · 7:09pm Mar 27th, 2019
This tidbit is probably the shortest one I have written on these and I'm really sorry for that, this one was pushing ideas that I guess needed a bit more refinement. That doesn't mean this should be skipped, if anything this tidbit is by far the most important when comes to understanding Episode 9 that we're building to for this season. There will be a lot of stuff happening in that chapter and it will be by far my longest chapter ever so be ready for it. This is the tidbit of the Winter Solstice...

It’s is the longest day of the year and is the precipice of autumn into winter. It is often thought of as the day the final leave falls. Ice is always sure to follow. For the creatures in the world before Equestria existed the Winter Solstice is seen with both fear and joy. The winter under the threat of wendigoes bring many more together in joy but under the right conditions can be a cocktail of dangerous emotions.
Creatures are always concerned during this time of the year and hope it passes without much harm. It is a day that must b always watch for.
There is though another reason creatures are scared during this time of year and the reason is often forgotten even by the oldest of them. On this day accord to legend a creature of ice fell in love with a warm hearted mare and it was also the day many years later that his love was stolen from him. There is a event that happens on the morning of the Winter Solstice, a great howling that can be heard in nearly every land with no discern direction of origin. It is believed that the legend is based on the howling.
