I can't believe this whole time I forgot to do this, but I wanted to say thank you for choosing this fic to be the winner of the contest!!!

The year is 1007, and slavery is legal in the Colthaginian Republic. Under the brutal reign of the Zarcid family creatures are oppressed and exploited, bought and sold at the whims of cruel slavers.

Godfrey Girardin, on the other claw, finds "merchant" to be a more palatable name for his profession. Somehow he doesn't think his new marefriend will see it that way.

Takes place in the Equestria at War universe.

The Heer is retreating. Never did Blueblood think he'd see the day, but the entry of Stalliongrad into the war has presented the first sign of hope for a long time. Completely overstretched and sapped of offensive potential, Hivesmarshal Trimmel has ordered a general retreat.

Sensing the first opportunity for a long time; Field Marshal Blueblood, Commander in Chief of the United Ponies Front, has to fight a bloody political battle against the Equestrian political system to prevent their great leaders from snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Posada was on top of the world.
The peaceful revolution of Hippogriffia was successful, Queen Novo abdicated. The former crown princess of Hippogriffia, Skystar, her cousin Silverstream, as well as Posada´s old reactionary friend Crack Lightning, joined the Revolutionary Workers Party and with her reforms starting to bear fruit, the World Revolution seemed closer than ever.

But soon after, at an official council meeting, comrade Hard Line proposed something questionable, to find and end the former Queen, ending the bourgeoisie and any risk of a possible counter-revolution. The majority of the council protested and a rift in the party seemed to have fromed. Tricking Hard Line into quoting the fascist Beakolini, Posada quickly shut down his proposal and humiliated her overzealous comrade, before warning him, that this rhetoric wont be allowed on the council.

Initially proud of her actions, days later doubts have started creeping into her mind. Was she too lenient on her former enemies? Was Hard Line correct to be cautious? Was her humiliation of him justified or the right thing to do to a friend and comrade? Full of doubt, Posada starts to question the stability and purity of the Party, as well as Hard Line´s place in it. Fearing that her revolutionary state will fall, like so many have before it due to infighting, Posada spends hours wasting away in her office. However a trusted friend may give Posada the courage and compassion to confront her doubts.

This Story takes place in the Equestria at war Universe, a mod for Hearts of Iron 4

This story is more of less the product of my criticism of how Hard Line and Starry Eyes have a very minor role in Posada´s path and and their unclear relationship with Posada.

The goal of this story is to give a little bit more character to those two and to act as an inconsequential filler arc.

I am not the creator or writer of these characters in the Equestria at war mod, so i will probably mischaracterize them.

Nonetheless I hope you enjoy my story and criticizes it fairly.

The tale of an individual and their journey into insanity as they uncover parts of themselves that they once never knew existed.

AUTHORS NOTE: This project is still in the works, I was going to wait until the story was finished to release the full thing but many wanted to atleast see the progress.

Story for the Equestria at War 2023 writing contest!

It has been many years since the war started...

Chrysalis and her armies rolled over our defenses, overwhelming our forces with sheer numbers. We fought a fighting retreat, always on the run from the swarm. We thought it would be over, that this would be the end of Equestria, and the end of Harmony...

But it was not so. We gathered our strength and held our ground, at last. Desperately our soldiers fought on and held the swarm off. Ponies took up arms to bolster our ranks or grabbed a tool to aid the war industry.

And now, after all these years, we remain in a stalemate. The Changelings adopted their own variant of total warfare. They launch raids on defensive positions at night, send bomber squadrons to destroy civilian centers all across Equestria and sink civilian cruisers out on the sea.

The war drags on, and my ponies grow tired of grieving the loss of their homes and loved ones. It is time for Equestria to commit to this war and leave behind our outdated principles of pacifism and harmony.

This war has brought upon us a new age. And with it, a new Equestria must rise!

For centuries, the griffons of Prywhen have lived peaceful and simple lives. Even the arrival of the Griffonian Empire didn't bring great change to the region, as it was never deemed too important for the Imperials in Griffenheim.

After the Empire collapsed after its revolution, Prywhen became united and independent for the first time in many, many years; under King Kloseu of the Kissau dynasty. However, independence brought new problems to the griffons of Prywhen - now living in the Kingdom of Brodfeld. Wheat, for centuries the staple of the region, was replaced by the more profitable rice crops. As exports grew, so did the wealth of the aristocracy, but the situation of the peasants became worse with each passing year.

Then, famine struck the Kingdom.

One in five griffons died. The peasants of Brodfeld decided enough was enough, and began organizing in new, radical groups embracing new, radical ideologies. The King declared a state of emergency and calmed the situation temporarily; but after an assasination attempt killed his wife, lines were quickly drawn, arms gathered, and shots began to be fired.

The Prywhenian Civil War had begun. And the fate of millions of griffons rested upon its result.

The Changeling war machine rolled over Equestria in a little over a year. The following three years saw brutal oppression of Equestria by said Changelings, but now the Manehattan Protectorate, covering the eastern coast of Equestria, has collapsed. Out of it the Ponies' Front for the Liberation of Equestria, or Equestrian Liberation Front (ELF) has risen, sending the Changelings reeling as they try to minimise the damage and prepare a counterstrike.

But the uprising left many soldiers of the Heer trapped behind enemy lines, and surrounded on all sides by unfriendly ponies. This is the tale of one such 'ling and his unit, and how he saved his own life and that of the others.
