Demon Eyes Laharl is alive! · 5:43pm February 28th
Hey folks. Thought everyone would be interested to know that I have gotten in touch with the Father of the Gentlemanverse Demon Eyes Laharl. Thanks goes to HorseWordFan for informing me that he had been active on FanFiction.net recently, posting and updating his first new story there since 2018 just in the past six months or so.
We've had a couple long discussions after I pinged him on FF.net and he got back to me on Skype. I told him what was going on with Feathered Heart, giving him the full rundown of my altered story, and asked him what he was planning for it himself. He responded by explaining his entire system of MLP lore to me, and the story's role in it. Some of what he said really surprised me—I would never have thought that's where it was going.
It's not my place to divulge it, but he did give me permission to let everyone know that he's alive and kicking. And still trying to write, saying that his newest FanFiction.net story was his effort to ease back into it. He's having some mixed success there.
I've invited him to read Feathered Hearts: Continuation and Chronicles, but he's demurred for now, saying basically that life is in the way of him both reading and writing. I can certainly understand and respect that. However, he did give me his blessing to continue my version of the story. Based on what he told me, I will attempt to incorporate some of his lore and his envisioned roles for certain characters down the line. I also invited him to at least check in Fimfiction to let folks know how he's doing.
For those of you hoping he returns to finish not just the original Feathered Heart but Changeling Roan, I wouldn't get your hopes up. He himself said it would be hard for him to come back now as he's forgotten a lot of what he was planning to do. But please show him some love in the comments, and let him know he's missed.
I'm glad you were able to contact DEL and gain his knowledge and blessing. I hope that will help settle some of your critics (not gonna hold my breath though).

Wonderful news! I hope he's doing well IRL and hope that he checks in here sometime. Please let him know there are a lot of us here who miss him and wish him well.
I took a peek at DEL's latest 2023 effort. I have to say his writing has, if anything, only gotten better over the years. The Great One is still great and I'm really happy to hear of his continued existence.

He writes crossover fanfiction and always has. In fact, his writing efforts there actually predate MLP by about ten years. I‘m just glad we got him as long as we did, given the great gift the Gentlemanverse was in inspiring my own writing efforts and those of many others.
