Pinky the Kitchen Zombie · 3:27am Sep 25th, 2016
I've got to say that today's episode, "Every Little Thing She Does," struck a familiar note at one point: Pinky in the kitchen under Starlight's version of the "Imperius" curse. It was amazingly close to a scene in Words Failed Her where Pinky was madly baking in a magic-induced trance—except Twilight, at least, had the presence of mind to shut off the gas to the oven before she left in my story.
There have been a number of moments in the show that have been eerily similar to scenes I have written, not that I think there's any causal relationship, I'm sure! In fact, I'll bet this happens to many fan fiction writers plying their hobby while the setting in question is still in production and putting out new content. Have any of you had a similar experience? Which of your stories and what episode of the show seemed to match?
Well, there was a certain Indian unicorn from "Spice up your Life" that seemed amazingly similar to my OC Amber Spice from Tastes Like Heresy. I found the similarity greatly amusing.
Just remember, the show staff only can't admit they read fanfiction. :V
I participated in a collaborative crack-fic, Diamond and Silver's Excellent Adventure. In my portion of the story, time-traveling adult Apple Bloom shows up from the future. She casually mentions how (1) she's friends with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon in the future, (2) she got her cutie mark with their help, and (3) her cutie mark is so awesome that it totally made up for the long wait. So I was inordinately amused when "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" canonized something I wrote on a lark.
And then there's Alarm Clock, (initially plotted back in season 3, but not finished and published until season 4-ish) in which Ditzy Doo accidentally convinces Dr. Hooves that Bon Bon is a secret agent. Bon Bon's reaction in my story retroactively became a lot funnier after "Slice of Life" and Secret Agent Sweetie Drops happened.

That makes that moment I read last night even more hilarious.
Isolated and tessellated shield spells! I used them in The Celestia Code years ago! The same story had Chrysalis hatching out her children as grubs, too.
