My Episode Review on Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown · 5:06pm Feb 14th, 2020
Happy Valentines Day, my friends!
This is your friendly film, TV show, and episode reporter here with another review.
And today, for my 25th episode analysis and seventh installment of my "February Festivity", I'm gonna give you guys my take of "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown".
Here's the rundown of it:
It's Valentines Day and Charlie Brown is hoping to get at least one Valentine from somebody, mainly because he seems to be the only one who doesn't get a Valentine.
Meanwhile, the rest of the gang get into some hijinks of their own.
Having seen this special a long time ago one time, I couldn't resist watching it again in order to give it a review. And let me just say that, once again, this was another winner of a Charlie Brown installment!
The only flaw that I couldn't help but note was that the voice portrayal of Sally sounded a little whiney in some ways. The same with the portrayals of some of the other characters in some scenes, such as Linus and Charlie.
Other than that, though, I deeply enjoyed this special.
The story by Charles M. Schulz, and the direction by Phil Roman, were as pleasant as any Charlie Brown special I analyzed. Charlie and Linus's drive and goals on Valentines Day helped this special be full of heart and emotion, and the comedy revolving around Snoopy and Woodstock was genuinely hilarious. My favorite comedy moment was with Snoopy and the "Pawpet Show".
The animation of this special was excellent too. As with the other Peanuts specials I reviewed, I loved how the team was able to make great use of their budget, helping the special look good and make it as accomplished as possible without using too much money.
Finally, the characters were still as lovable and fun as ever. Even though Charlie was obviously down-on-his-luck on Valentines Day, I couldn't help but root for him every step of the way and deeply hope the holiday would be worthwhile. Additionally, I admired Lucy, Violet, Sally, and Frieda for giving Charlie Valentines cards near the end, even though it was mostly out of pity and guilt.
In the end, "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" was another Peanuts special that I found to be one of the best of the filmography, even though it isn't perfect because of the voice acting.
So, I rate "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown" 4½ out of 5 stars.

I haven't seen this one of Peanuts. All I really know is the, uh, Christmas version. But it sounds nice!
