#1 picked #2, so now we're in top 8! · 6:10pm Mar 30th, 2019
Got talks going on in our alliance, and let's see if we can beat the competition in the playoffs!
Got talks going on in our alliance, and let's see if we can beat the competition in the playoffs!
*crosses fingers*
On the side note, I just realized that one of the teams competing is called "Trixie and the Megabots".
Coincidence?
A controller software glitch causes your robot to stall for half the round, and drop your team to 6th place...
We lost the quarterfinals. We're out of the competition in our region.
At least there's still the Idaho regionals in two weeks.
Went from 1st place to 7th to 11th back to 8th. 8th place out of 48 teams!
Our robot might've shut down 3/4 the way through the match, but we still managed to raise from 8th place to 4th!
Your robot stalls, and proceeds to fail spectacularly in the quarterfinals.
If we lose one more time, then we're out of the game.
Utah regional is over. Our final match was lost horribly due to our two alliance teams breaking down on the field, while the rival alliance surrounded our robots and kept it from moving anywhere outside of a small area filled with boxes.
Here's to the Idaho regional competition faring better.
We may be in 35th place from bad alliances holding us back, but we just handed one of the top teams their first loss of the day.
Someone needs to make a fic involving these two. Granted I'm working on one rn, but I want to see what others come up with.
While I continue to try and regain my footing in writing, I decided to make a blog post about a previously-unmentioned great interest of mine: robot combat.
Fighting Robots 1 (Nightmare, Chaos 2, BioHazard, Razer, Hazard, Deadblow, Blendo)
Fighting Robots 2 (Hypno-Disc, Tombstone, Supernova, Son of Whyachi, Carbide, Minotaur, Apex, Icewave, PP3D)
Fighting Robots 3 (Killerhurtz, Terrorhurtz, beta)
Nothing like cramming in robotics to get the 'bot finished within the next week, amirite?
6 weeks, over. Robot: completed. All-threads: operational. Boxclaw: operational.
Celebratory cupcakes: delivered.
Robot: operational.
Weeks to SLC regional competition: ~1.5 weeks.
Let's hope it's a good one.
Our robot was slammed so hard that the entire top half came off.
We ended up in 8th place out of ~15 teams.
Team 971, up until this match, was rank #1.
We, team 4598, weren't even in top 10.
We beat them through strategic defense, with our team focusing entirely on defending against 971.
We went up to 9th place, and 971 dropped from 1st to 8th.
8th.
We are good at defense.
EDIT: WE MOVED UP TO 8TH. Team 971 is 7th now, but another top 10 team ahead of us dropped in rank!
~8 hours spent in robotics today. My feet are killing me at the moment, but definitely worth it even if I missed both of the alarms I set this morning.
