Discord snapped the cupcake up whole in his jaws and mulled over her words. “I suppose she would make an exception, but still no. I have to cause chaos.”

Rainbow rolled her eyes. “What? Does it keep you alive or something?”

“Not anymore than you flying.”

Actually it does: too little chaos will literally kill him.

Fantastic story. My favorite bits were Dash’s deadpan snarking.

“Why did I even ask you?”
“I don’t why you thought I would give you a good answer considering you locked me in my own house.”

“It’s simply because I must!”
“Be a jerk?”

Discord and Dash play well off each other. They are both mischief makers, for starters. But yeah, I loved the story.

“I’m pretty sure you’re lying.” Rainbow tried to slam into a wall, but it wobbled like jelly and threw her backwards. She growled, “let me out Discord.”

The walls aren't budging. Discord made sure they didn't have the texture of clouds anymore.

The way they played off in Three's a Crowd was nothing short of amazing.

They had a scene in “Three’s a a Crowd”? Hmm, I should really watch that episode someday.

But in any case, we got to see more of their chemistry in “What about Discord?” and “The Best Gift Ever”.

she ripped the paper off the top and yanked the box flaps open. Inside was the grinning face of Discord.
“Surprise!” he cried out.

"Oh, wow!" Rainbow cheered in awe, rushing forward and embracing Discord in a warm hug. "This is amazing! I'll love him and feed him and hug him and take very good care of him!"

"Wait, what?" Discord tried, but failed to extract himself from her embrace.

"You're the best present ever!"

80 years later, Discord removed his flea collar and placed it fondly on the tombstone.

"Gotta admit, Dash," he chuckled to himself. "That was the best prank ever."

Little nitpick, canonically discord actually does need to cause chaos to live. If he does not cause chaos for a prolonged period of time he starts to fade away.
