This story is a sequel to Spells and Rainbows

Following the speed spell incident in Spells and Rainbows, Rainbow Dash thought her entanglement with magic would end that day. When she discovers the experiment left her with more than just a thrilling memory, she would realize it was just beginning of a story far bigger than she could ever imagine.

When a powerful unicorn stirs up trouble near the border of Equestria, Princess Celestia sends her most faithful student on a long journey to unravel the mystery surrounding this "Mare in the Mountains".

At the moment, I don't intend on using elements of gore, but if plans change, I'll update the tag ahead of time.

Rainbow hears about a particular speed spell of Starlight's while talking with Twilight. After a talk with Starlight, they agree to test out the spell on Rainbow to see what happens.

Proofs are a major component of mathematics. But there are are some laws in math that cannot be proved and should NEVER be questioned. Unfortunately, a unicorn named Starlight Glimmer attempts to question a fundamental piece of logic in an effort to help her mentor solve an impossible problem.

[REMEMBER THIS IS ALL FICTION]

During Part 2 of the Season 5 Finale, Twilight Sparkle reenters the past the confront Starlight Glimmer once more after escaping from a changeling-infested future. Twilight then proceeds to try to beat Starlight in a magic battle.

What viewers witnessed were roughly 45 seconds of action that ended with Twilight and Starlight landing back on a cloud, exhausted and out of breath, before hearing an excited cry from filly Rainbow Dash and the other two colts who were watching in excitement, having been distracted from the race.

However, things don't add up at all here. After fighting Tirek in the Season 4 Finale for about the same amount of time and quadruple the magic power, neither were exhausted in any way. Because of this, there should be no way that Starlight and Twilight, two of the most powerful ponies in Equestria, can run out of power in less than a minute. Also, how could all the other fillies be acting excited over watching less than a minute of action?T he answer is simple. They fought for almost an hour, but (thanks to Sweetie Belle's reminder of friendship problems being over in half an hour or so) it had to be shortened to fit the air time. Note: Twilight and Starlight are really the dominant characters in this...

After a long period of reading horror stories and apparent spoilers, Twilight wakes to find herself in a dark room, in a dark house. And it's dark. While trying to escape, she stumbles into several obstacles that cause her to over-complicate a simple situation into that of a horror story. There's nothing scarier than an overactive imagination, right?

One summer night, Twilight Sparkle begins to suffer from terrifying, apocalyptic nightmares. As these horrors persist, she asks Princess Luna for help. All the while she struggles to deal with her faltering relationship with Rainbow Dash.

Things take a turn for the worse when the cataclysmic events Twilight had been witnessing in her dreams begin happening in the real world. As the Mane 6 and the other citizens of Equestria get engaged in a bitter struggle for survival, Twilight and Rainbow Dash begin to reconnect as the matters that had separated them become trivial in the ruins of the sites they had once cherished.

However, just when a glimmer of hope begins to show through the dark nature of their environment, Twilight sees something in her nightmares that forces her to make the ultimate sacrifice and will forever change the way she sees other ponies.

Woooowie! Been a long time since this huh? But I won't waste your time, you're here for the good stuff!

This story idea was a ponification of another story idea I had back in 2012. Obviously in 2017 I was far newer to writing and wasn't familiar with the site, not to mention not even a hundredth of the pony fan I am today, including this painfully long Long Description. I've abandoned the idea long ago, but now that I'm back into writing I decided to make a bit of a challenge to start randomly updating this.

I don't care too much if no one reads this; it's been tracked by only 8 people as of now so I'm not expecting anything to come of it, but it'll be fun to see this receive an occasional update now and then x3
