~Background Pony~
A story that made me feel all the emotions and then had the audacity to end on such a melancholic note... My SOUL still shudders and my heart constricts when I think about this story...which I read nearly nine years ago. I love it and aim to get a hardcover copy which is currently available at the Ministry of Image.
~The Enchanted Library~
This is pretty much a stand-in for anything written by Monochromatic, whose stories I've re-read several times by now. In this particular story, Rarity proves the existence of the mythical Lost Princesses by finding the one regionally known as 'Booky'.
Fantastically written with engaging characters and storylines, it and its first sequel have hardcover copies available at the Ministry of Image. It has two sequels and a couple of side stories. Also, read Crimson Lips.
EDIT: Mono pretty much exclusively uploads on her own website: hollowshades.com
~The Celestia Code~
This story and its sequels should be considered staples of the adventure genre. In this one Twilight visits an archeological marvel; gets overrun by bugs and blows everything up. Truly fantastic stories that deliver entertainment for pretty much any kind of reader. I own hardcover copies of the books that I indulge in pretty much annually. I got them from Lulu but the Ministry is selling them as well, together with the side stories.
~H'ven Sent~
This story promises to be a little different from the typical fanfiction found here... and it delivers fantastically. It's rare for me to read sci-fi — I just can't seem to get much out of the genre —, however, this story about ponies living in some kind of enclosure very much gripped me and had me coming back again and again.
~The Changeling of the Guard~
This is one of the rare unfinished stories I hold high amongst my declared Pantheon. It is frankly just a good story with a lot of inherent charm and should be read by everyone on this site. The title is rather self-explanatory.
