Welcome to the Storyboards.

After having a lot of fun fleshing out OCs and testing them through hypothetical interactions with other writers on the Friendship is Awesome forum, I thought it was time for us to make a group dedicated to the continued strengthening of our OCs characters.

On this site, we'll continue to use writing exercises and hypothetical scenarios to flesh out and develop our OCs' personalities, abilities and character arcs to better prepare them to be excellent cast members of any stories we're already writing or plan to write involving them. And if any writers here find that their OCs get along particularly well with each other, plans for crossovers are more than welcome.

Some quick ground rules before we continue:

  1. If you want to join, you'll need an OC. It can be a self-insert, a fully original character, or even your own take on an established character for another medium. As long as it's someone that our OCs can interact with. Our OCs love meeting new people, and would be more than happy to meet whoever you've got.
  2. No OP OCs, please. While it's natural to want your character to be strong and powerful, power is not the key to making a relatable character. They need to have flaws, weakness and vulnerabilities that play into their personalities and enhance them as relatable and easy-to-root-for. Let your OCs' vulnerable side show.
  3. Do not try to build your OC up by tearing the OC of another writer down. If you're curious about what would happen if your OCs did battle, discuss it with your fellow writers. Which leads into...
  4. Do not make assumptions or try to force changes onto another writer's OC. You are the master of your own OCs, and your fellow writers are the masters of their own. Please respect the time and care they put into their cast and don't just add changes to their backstory or abilities without approval from their writer. If you have ideas on how their cast can be improved, talk and discuss it with them first. Overall...
  5. Be respectful and courteous with each other. We're all friends here: we all want to make our characters and stories the best versions of themselves. And we'll have an easier time doing that if we work together.

If you have questions, please feel free to PM me at my profile, and I'll try to answer any questions you have to the best of my ability.

I look forward to sharing many interesting characters and stories with all of you.

Until then,
