The very same Deadman of Dead Man Walking put on a very different path as he finds his unfortunate way to Equestria. What if he was dumped in Equestria before it was stable? What if there were those who capitalized on the power vacuum left by Discord's banishment other than Celestia and Luna? What if he didn't even speak the same language this time around?
Although this draws from Dead Man Walking, reading it is not needed to understand this, as the split goes from the very beginning onward. Knowledge of the universe is not required, the only thing you need to know is that HRV equals wall-hacks.

This has been in my Read Later tab for ages and i have only now been able to get the time to read it. Anyway my lack of spare time aside I must say i like the idea of Deadman stuck in an alternate era where he is in a similar situation to back home, After all war is universal and at least this way he can cut loose.
