After taking great pleasure in drawing up Rainboom comics that may or may not be based on their actual adventures, Sunset Shimmer decides to expand her creative horizons by writing her first fully text-based story.
Like any writer, new and old, she can't help but agonize over it.
What will the story be about? What theme will she use? What will readers think of it? How will it compare to her comics?
All of these questions and more will bounce around in her mind like Pinkie Pie fueled by All of the Sugar (TM) before she can write the first chapter...

It's such a wonderful homage to the art of writing and a beautiful expression of your craft. At the end of the day, all I was looking for were a few short words to hear what the writing experience meant to you. It was just an elaborate way to support the people I like since most people are remiss to accept it for their fanfiction work. But what I got instead was something that goes farther and reaches deeper. Not only with a lovely and wholesome story to accompany those thoughts, but also an underlying, powerful respect to the medium and to your peers.

Quite reflective, personally the motivations of each piece of writing should remain within oneself, but it is true that it is very satisfying for someone to speak or comment on their work. Is self esteem feeding? I won't think about it too much. In any case, writing continues and with it the consumption of the most important resource that one has in life. Time.
You can call it self esteem feeding all you want, but this is something genuinely inspirational and beautiful here. Hats off to my fellow candy-colored horse enthusiasts!

At least GJ definitely has the excuse of me commissioning him, haha! But I agree with Axolotl. In fact, I'd argue every form of writing is, in some way, feeding. We write in order to connect with others. To express who we are and feel good about our work and ourselves. No story exists without purpose, I strongly believe.
At that point, it's just a matter of turning feeling and thought into artful word. What separates tasteful stories with substance and careful consideration from the rest if we are all self-serving in the end?
Beyond that, I don't like the idea that it's wrong to be self-serving. Sometimes being selfish is just a natural extension of self-preservation. In some strange way we never truly teach others but find out on our own, is that it is good to be selfish every once in a while for our own sake. In the same way confidence and narcissism are said to be flipsides of a coin, so too are selfishness and selflessness.
Oh man, I didn't expect to run circles in my mind... GJ will probably know what I'm talking about there. I need to log off for a while before I start writing in poetic prose again.

While I almost lost track of the plot by the time Twilight had her talk with Sunset, I nevertheless enjoyed this, not only speaking as someone who enjoy fanfics like this and cause I've been working hard on making my first ever book they I hope to have published sometime this fall!!!
