The TARDIS takes the Doctor and Twilight to the planet of Eugora in the year 1899. Here they come across a group of pony soldiers, explorers, and scientists. However, the forests of Eugora hide dark secrets and the Doctor, Twilight, and others find themselves facing off against two deadly enemies, and the Doctor knows one of them.

Second time I'm reading this story, and I just realized Colonel James is an alicorn. A lot of alicorns in the future.
This is the first time one of these stories got really dark. Decapitated pony!
Well certainly it's appropriate that a story this dark would involve Weeping Angels, probably the darkest of Doctor Who villain creatures.

Having read this a second time, I realize this story has a very good ending. Kind of goes to the heart of who the Doctor is and what Doctor Who is all about.
I also really like the balance struck so far between Doctor Who villains (the Dalek, the Weeping Angel) and MLP inspired Doctor Who-esque villains (Thalia, the Eugoran spider-crab thing). It shows how these two very different worlds have blended into their own unique crossover world.
Another thing I realized in my re-reading, Donna gets mentioned a lot in these episodes. Foreshadowing.
I should re-read things more often.

One thing though, it kind of annoyed me a bit that some of the secondary characters weren't described in full, but I could fill it in in my head.
