I am helping a friend thru hard times.
His girlfriend left him for her ex and kicked him to the curb with the clothes on his back a couple days ago.
I spent good money putting him up in a hotel room for a couple days, talked him to put the gun down from his head twice, (nothing gets the heart pumping like hearing a handgun cock) and talked him through his feelings while he got very emotional.
I'm now his best friend and his Bro(ny.)
He laughed when he called me that.
Said it was his first laugh in days. That I'm a good guy and he's glad he met me and he owes me everything for saving his life tonight.
I know it sounds kinda shitty, but I couldn't be the man I am without this fandom.
It’s very rare to have someone be there for you in that capacity. Maybe we find it hard to connect with others enough for them to care about us. Maybe it’s just a matter of timing, and not having a friend to be there for you right there and then. Things like that can happen in an instant, and even a single denial or moment of saying “I don’t want to deal with this” could’ve been the final straw for your friend. With that said, great work Mocha. Saving a life is seriously hard work. Mentally, financially, and sometimes physically.
In quite a literal way, you’re a blessing in disguise. We can all be. And we should try to be. Because we’ll never know when we’ll need that blessing ourselves.
I'm sorry your friend is going through a hard time. Keeping him in my prayers.
You’re a good friend, Mocha. It can be scary and hard to be there for someone in those situations. Your friend is fortunate to have you. Being there for each other is a big part of what our community is about. You definitely showed kindness, loyalty and generosity. Thank you for being there.
