Rainbow beem turns into a portal and Zip somehow magically recognizes it as such?
I get that pegassi can walk on clouds, but what about the rest?

Why are the rest there if this is a pegassi job? Couldn't Sunny just bring them along in her shield?

This is a 5 minute short! We don't have time for a search, Sunny! Why do you think the judgmental Zipp threw caution to the wind and jumped into a prismatic beam of magic for no clear reasoning for this to be the answer for transportation? Now come on, we have to walk Snake Way.
So the bedtime story about rainbows has been real despite the evidence. A lost piece of machinery that likely put hundreds of pegasi out of a job is floating right here. Think of the knowledge we could learn by studying it, the discoveries that we could build from understanding the engineering of the ponies of yore.

Despite some abrupt moments and eye-rolling 'friendship' stuff, this episode looked really nice. Granted that they're working with the most blandest of material in the vacant sky, but they made an elaborate environment the was busy but not overwhelming.
