How White Chocolate Almost Ruined Everything

Do you like deep lore? How about meta-lore? It should come as no surprise that over the course of three years writing daily, plans can change a lot. This is a story about how things once were going to go, which I rambled about a few weeks ago in discord and figured I'd do a deeper dive on here, to record it for posterity and because I don't post enough blogs and bet it'll make for a decent yarn.

    The Year that Didn't Happen

On March 5th, right about a year ago, I left work early because news had hit that covid was in the schools and it was time for things to close down. I didn't particularly mind, because TOW was at the end of its final arc and I had already taken the next week off so I could dedicate everything to the ending and then relax a little afterward in peace. It just felt like that break came in a few days

    Stay Determined: Sequel Blog Two

...It's really been two years, huh? I guess that makes it time for another update. The state of the story is this: it's still happening. It's still going to be a while... but a year less than it was going to be when I posted the last update blog. And I don't mean that in the sense of me sitting around and doing nothing for a year. It's been getting time to cook, and it needed it.

Two Hundred Chapters · 2:34am Jan 3rd, 2018

It's been a long time coming, but... wow. I've taken a daily through two hundred chapters without missing a single day, according to fimfiction (only in my timezone, granted), never dropping below a thousand words at a time, and never buffering more than one chapter in advance. This is kind of surreal, especially given this story's inspiration.

I'd like to say it's also completely stunning and in defiance of my expectations for what would happen when I started publishing this, though that isn't exactly true: I prepared for a long time prior to starting to be sure I'd be able to do what I envisioned, and have always intended for the story to go this far and beyond. A lot further beyond, in fact. More than another two hundred chapters. So for the thirty-odd people who stay caught up and have stuck with this crazy story this far, thank you, and here's to the next leg of this journey.

For everyone else who follows me for some reason other than The Olden World, I've been... pretty silent. In fact, I've done basically nothing since publishing TOW - I've been pouring everything I have into this story, and that means other projects have fallen to the wayside. At least there's nothing sitting around with a big fat Hiatus tag, or anything, but there hasn't been any new content, either. I'd like to change that. I'd like to enter more contests, write a Sunset Shimmer story that's actually good, work on the sequel to Stay Determined... but new years' resolutions are meant to be broken, so this doesn't really seem like the best time to make promises, especially since I've been saying I'll do it for months now. Maybe, though. Fingers crossed.

Well, I'm going to go write Cht.201. Have fun, everyone.

Congratulations! And thanks for your hard work on TOW. It's been a great ride so far!

I've been wondering where we are in the overall story, and it sounds like we're not quite halfway. I only wish you had more readers of this - it deserves to be way more widely read and enjoyed! :applecry:
