I've been trying to get off this ride for a quarter of my life.

"So wise, so young, they say, do never live long."
-William Shakespeare, Richard III Act 3, Scene 1

Spike has always felt a certain sense of distance from Twilight and her friends. As much as he loves them, he's never felt like he belonged with them.

So, when Luna and Celestia offer him a way to find himself, a way to temper his metal in the fires of battle, he takes them up on it. How was he to have known this was simply the beginning of the end?

With great fear and excitement in his heart, Spike makes a sacred voyage to the home of the ancient Dragons and learns a thing or two about himself.

*Considered uncanon with Season 6 Episode 5.

Hey, just a reminder that your image source link might need to be fixed.

Premise of the story sounds great, though. It seems like Spike is going through very relatable stages in life.

Thank you for reminding me.

A few spelling errors (such as spelling "imbued" as "embewed"), but my interest is still piqued. I look forward to seeing how this develops.

7121363 No problem, glad I was able to help a bit.

Where's the Genre Tags?

Celestia? As in Princess Celestia of Equestria? The one who raises and lower the Sun? That Cake-loving, pranking mare Celestia?

Is this going to be a slightly modified story of Perseus or is it going to be its own story?

Don't forget your tags please. :twilightsheepish:

The one and only.

There'll be some basic parallels between this story and the myth, but it is its own unique story. I don't claim this to be an adaptation of any sort.

I know this is nit-picking but you do know that Perseus was born long before Heracles and is like a grandparent maybe with some added grands to Heracles on his mom's side right?

But anyways I like this story mostly because I like that Spike's the kid of gods and Celestia's biologically kid. i always wanted to right a story of that but with Discord has the dad.

Oh, I know. The whole Perseus-Hercales relationship is deliberately changed. My goal with this story was to have some parallels between Perseus and Spike while also purposely changing certain things to differentiate it from the actual myth. The myth of Perseus is more of an inspiration for this story than an exact guide. I appreciate you pointing out the differences, though.

7124504 Personally I like that you choose that myth mostly because in the words of Percy Jackson " his the hero with the happiest ending".

Why is this story named Perseus when Starlight can't fly? I know she can levitate, but that's not the same as flying.
