In a desperate situation, Soren must make a deal with Discord by forfeiting his memories and spending the rest of his life in a whole new world. When he falls from the sky into the outskirts of a small trade hub town, he finds that he is trapped in Discord's scheme to recover a long lost artifact with powers unknown. With the help of small town pegasus, River Breeze, he must travel far across a strange land to earn his freedom and learn to deal with the truth.

Finally gotten around to reading it, interesting start, with an interesting tragedy to it, I wonder if the cancer part was also discord's doing. Now I wonder what he will be doing in Equestria, and what will he have to do there, and what are Discord's reasons to bring him there in the first place, I don't think he is just doing this to twist the knife deeper into the guys wound in exchange of saving his mother's life, and make him miserable just for that, he could have snapped his finders and just cured her if he wanted. I am guessing that Discord needs him as his pawn that he can used for his own ends, and I don't think that it's just for having the human turn pony be just a source of entertainment(only), there are plenty of pony that he could make their life miserable, like a certain purple princess namely, and could have plucked any human from their reality without even needed their input without that tragic back story. So, Discord probably need the guy as a willing pawn, well rather coerced, who thinks he did a massive sacrifice, with a fake sense of closure tragedy. The question begs what could Discord possibly need a human for, other then do stuff that he wouldn't even bother doing himself or even spare a snapping, and had to plucked from another reality, how has nothing special to him on his own. I could imagine Discord imbuing him with some of his Chaos Magic and send him as a agent of chaos to reek havoc everywhere he goes, but the guy doesn't really have the inclination for that. So the best thing that I can imagine is that he needs him to stay incognito, and for some fetch quests, probably multiples, for something that Discord can't use his own discord magic to solve if instantly. And sense there is apparently no chance of coming back Discord also probably also needs him to keep or guard it in his place, as he can't hide or guard it himself in an unreachable place in his chaos realm.

Hum, well the chapter got published a few minutes after I posted my comment. So the guy is has been bed ridden, and unconscious in her house for the past two weeks it means that they are really far from civilization if she couldn't get him to a doctor, this could be interesting place to explore for a while and helps change the usual HiE setting. From the looks of it Discord absolutely doesn't want anypony to know he was originally a human, the fact that he doesn't sensor clamed that he wasn't a pony before freely means that it's that particular detail that that is important for Discord. I wonder if there are other players in this game(human) in this and that if they are controlled by other important beings and what is at stake in playing this.

Now, it seems Soren can walk just fine, but he can't fly - not the best example of a pegasus. And River is fine with staying on the ground. It'll be interesting seeing how they progress throughout the story...

Another great chapter! I love how much care goes into the descriptions of the wings, and the scenery, and how you depict the joy of flight. I'm also a bit invested in this ship... 👀 But Soren is still a giga-dork. Well, honestly, so is River. Looking forward to rest of their journey!

Nice to see an update on this story again after so long. Nice to see Trixie coming into the story, thought I feel it shows off the issues with the writing like what are their impressions of Trixie and how great she is, they just accept her and the narrator doesn't get into their thoughts, to add their subjectivity of the what they are seeing or explain a little back story to add a little context to the situation, making it feel more like a screen play then a story, sorry. It could also help the story if you used other words to describe their dialogue then 'said' and add more varied description like 'he added', 'intersected', along with maybe adding a emotion or tone descriptor word to add more of a tone to the dialogue, like 'she said boastfully, buffing up her chest, her showmareship pride taking over.' or like "She groaned out" and you could add or hint to the reason why they are like that with, 'hangered from the long arduous trek, with all visible nick and scrapes on her hooves." Wish you luck dude and keep it up, you are getting better at this.
