Story In the Works

Soooo, it's been a while since I gave any update on the story I announced about a month ago. I just wanted to let you know the story isn't dead by any means. My primary editor has been busy with life and work, so they will be able to help me with my chapters in June and July. I'm already working on writing out the 4th chapter (first draft right now) but I'm thinking of publishing the first chapters until I'm at least working on chapter 7 or 8.

The reasoning behind this is not only will I be able to go back and edit the earlier chapters with any new foreshadowing or plot points I may cover in the later chapters, but I also find myself losing motivation to continue writing a story if I publish the chapters too soon.

Also, I'm still considering doing a promotional contest for an art raffle once the story is published. More details will be released when the story is. I may also release new art concepts for the characters, although these will be AI-generated rather than hand-drawn simply because I'm still an aspiring artist, and I still have much room for improvement. However, I could also release the concept art I drew of these characters for those who appreciate amateur art.

That sounds like a good idea. My own problem is that I'm often too eager to publish a story virtually the very second its first chapter is ready, and not only does that demotivate me for further work, as you say, but it also means that the readers often have to wait literal months for a story update. That's never nice, and it's what kinda happened with the story I'm currently writing, also with the exam season getting in the way for me. So yeah, good call there!
