Fimfic Is Dead · 5:16pm May 19th
Fimfic is dead. Long time users said so.
I mean, I like this site, and while I don't read many stories, the ones I read are of incomparable fanfiction quality (even when recently posted). It also has several features barely any other side has. The site is also still very active, with even constant interesting writing contests being held. I don't like to see fics about porn, so I have mature filter on. Thus, I don't see how many porn fics there are.
Seriously, for how long the show ended, there are so many stories produced even now (or still to read). Surely not like at its peak, but as someone who only joinded this fandom in 2021, I was geniuenly impressed and stay in this fandom just because of this writing creativity.
But I guess I should just delete my stories and leave this fandom forever. Not like I also don't read fics that have a romance tag on them (and thus three quarters of fics are automatically disgarded).
Albeit, a filter option would be a good addition. This way, one could turn off mature filter off and still don't see porn fics.
After all, fimfic is dead.
P. S.: This sudden negativity for this site is strange for me who is new to this fandom, so it appears to me like "It was better back then!" and thus the still remaining good things are ignored. And if the recent events were the reasons for that negativity, shouldn't the immediate action of this community be seen as a positivity?
P. S. S.: Some might think it's a response to a recently published fic about this site. It's not, because I have no idea what was going on there or didn't get the references. It's mostly the comments under it.
Edit: I don't agree with the title, hence this post.
I'm still having fun reading and writing here. Thus, I will continue to read and write here, and that's good enough for me.
the fandom died after season 3
then it died after season 4 and eqg
then it died with the student 6
then it died with pony life
then it died because bronycon died
and now fimfic is dead
:P
I've known a few hoof-bros who have moved on, and they always wanted to say "OMG gaskin gal, come with me you loser" (they spoke like an early 90s cartoon) "Don't you know the stuff you like is dead. Come with me if you want to live!"
And, the thing is, until I am done with the pone, it is not dead, for me :3
I respect that FimFic prolly isn't as appealing to some folks as it was. I think that a lot of fandom things were amazing back in 2014 and what not. But there is still loads of great stuff! While I understand that those who wanna move on, if they're sure, are totally right to do so - and their experiences are valid and all - but so are mine. And yours!

The fandom actually died when Trixie appeared on screen. Trixie killed this fandom. Long live Trixie!

the Great and Powerful Trrrixie replaced it with the Trrrrixie fandom
Fans are called "little admirers" or Lads
I think you need to know that the fandom was very, very big—too big to sustain that momentum. It has matured and spread like everything else.
If you want to stop writing, then do so, but as an archivist, I don't want you to delete your work. Also, children who grew up with the show are now nostalgic for it and doing cool, interesting stuff.
Archive of Our Own is the top fanfic site now; you should check it out. I read fics where teens are exploring their gender and sexuality in a non-sexual way. I find the stories far more interesting now. For example, 'Rainbow Factory' was a bad fic where the only point was gore, but the sequel, written 10 years later, is a great story about PTSD with actual world-building and creepy imagery of Cloudsdale floating over Ponyville like a looming shadow.
There is really good stuff being written; you just have to look and take your time. I've been part of many fandoms, and this is what happens to most of them. They spread out; the MLP fandom is on Fimfiction, AO3, and TikTok, especially TikTok, since kids and teens are there.
That said, I understand your melancholy. I myself took a break from the fandom for about 5 years, but I don't want you to regret deleting your work. I also think your stories are good and important enough to keep.
I'd suggest taking a break and ignoring them; let them be here for people to read. Then, if you want to come back, you can, or you can ignore them forever.

I think you don't know me enough to see that I wrote in an sarcastic way. Notice how I pointed out reasons to stay

"I never know sarcasm, and everything I said is true. Please make sarcasm obvious with /S, but also, I am glad you're not leaving.
Since you aren't leaving, may I suggest 'The Advanced Projects Group,' a series written based on that episode where Twilight goes back in time and a bunch of timelines are made?
Twilight makes friends with Tempest, who acts as her big sister, as well as Trixie, Moondancer, Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer, and Cheese Sandwich. It's a big series with two main series and a two-parter with Discord, where he tries to get the main 6 back together."
The fandom must have died, like, 5.000 times by now and is still alive. It's amazing.

We killed it so many times. When will it finally die?
Hey, I have mature filter on too. Nice.
And again, I completely apologize for that one comment on your story, I wasn't thinking anything through at all.
The site's not dead, but the bot apocalypse is coming. :P

I could make a joke about the rise of Anon stories and the rise of bots, but…
I agree on the need for a filter option by genre for certain genres to never appear--like the mature filter.
It would also be great to be able to filter out certain users' stories... some people may be excellent people, but it is very unlikely I will enjoy their stories (after sampling some)... and it would be nice for users to see more of what interests them in a tailored sense.
Fimfiction is dead! Long live Fimfiction!
