I like words. That should go without saying on a site dedicated to writing, but I wanted to emphasize it. I really like words, old ones, new ones, long ones, short ones.
This post is about the new ones. Because, you guys, making up pretentious pseudo-latin/greek neologisms is fun. So when I came up with a good one earlier today, I decided I should share it.
I was thinking about my last story, and its gimmick of switching between two times, past and present, and I came up with the word "schizochronic" to describe it. This word is made of two parts: "schizo" which (originally) means "split", and "chrono" which means "time," both from Ancient Greek. So together you get split time--pretty neat. Of course, a word like that is unusably pretentious, but it was still fun to make up.
That's about all I have for today. If you've got any cool words you know, let me hear 'em, please. Doesn't matter if they're real, doesn't matter if they're English, or German, or some obscure conlang, I want them.
Speaking of conlangs, here's a nice little quote to end on:
La belo ne ekzistas sen malbelo
L' abelo ne ekzistas sen mielo
(kaj lingvo sen vorludoj mortnaskiĝus).
