A couple of recommendations: GaPJaxie & Jedi Master Ed · 3:12am Sep 20th, 2013

The Arbitrage of Moments by GaPJaxie: presentperfect reviewed this on his blog. Of course I always root for the bad guys. But you will too, with this story, at least a little. To misuse many terms at once, this is a short literary mystery fantasy adventure. Mystery, because what has happened is only gradually revealed. Fantasy, because magic. Literary, because it takes a "Good triumphs over evil" story and subverts it to ask questions about justice and fairness. Adventure, because, well, it isn't an adventure, but I don't want to give the wrong impression with the word "literary". It's strange, dramatic, but quiet violence.

.

The Force is the Force, of course, of course, and no one can horse with the Force of course--that is of course unless the horse is the Jedi Master, Ed!

That's right, kids--Jedi Master Ed is here on fimfiction. Besides getting his human pet Wilbur out of self-inflicted embarrassing predicaments, awkward romantic misunderstandings, and hilarious murdering rampages when Wilbur predictably gives in to the dark side in Act 2, Jedi Master Ed writes whimsical or interesting blog posts that only GhostOfHeraclitus and I read. (His post today is about MLP's troubling class-unconsciousness.) Originally I had hoped to keep him secret, learn his Jedi secrets, and have my vengeance on you all. But Ghost reads him too, so once again he's spoiled everything.

GhostOfHeraclitus Association For The Ruining Of Everythings: Have You Spoiled Bad Horse's Day Today?(TM)

Association? Should have been a cult! Much more stylish. Besides, I have it on good authority that horses hate cults.

You know, I get frustrated sometimes reading other people's stories that are so much better than mine.

But it passes, after leaving a warm glow.

While I am, ostensibly, a member of the Evil League of Evil, (still in an entry level position, minion 1st class, but I have aspirations.) and thus technically a subordinate to my lord and master Bad Horse, let's face it. Any villain or villain aspirate worth his salt it gonna try and get his master's secret knowledge. It's a given.
This just makes it easy. :ajsmug:

Well I can't bloody well advertise what it is right in the name, for Celestia's sake. Think of the PR nightmare. I mean that sort of thinking leads to madness and naming your evil organization something preposterous like "Evil League of Evil."

And we don't want that, now do we?:pinkiehappy:

And that, Bad Horse, is why the say evil has within it the seed of its own destruction.

1362271 True, but it also contains the seeds of everybody else's destruction.

I see that you are of the eschatological school of evil, then.

Many thanks for the kind words and recommendations, folks! :-)

1362309 No; you're thinking of Buddhists. I just believe that the art of winning is the art of making everypony else lose faster.

If you enjoyed The Arbitrage of Moments, I would highly recommend Siren Song, also by GaPJaxie. It's all of the above, plus adventure.

Okay, I'll add it to the queue.
I followed I Forgot I Was There for a while, but it started dragging on and I began to have my doubts about GaPJaxie's ability to wrap things up satisfactorily. I favorited The Arbitrage of Moments soon after it was published, and I figured GaPJaxie had finally gotten the hang of things. I suppose I should backtrack to find where they started improving.
