I may also use a generator of some sort to do the humans, depends on if I can find a good one with good looking military-ish uniforms.

Nope, theres a Gryphon generator, specifically.
I linked it at teh top of the post.
I feel it lacks some components, and the wings are tiny, so the Gryphons were the big photoshop projects.
There's a nice range of bits to get you started tho.

The proportions feel a little off for some reason on that generator, but this is still a great way to get a feel for the colour schemes? Have you ever considered commissioning some internet artist to do a group shot of all the characters?
