My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Season 7 Episode 4: "Rock Solid Friendship" (SPOILERS) · 4:01pm Apr 29th, 2017
This episode is about Maud Pie.
This episode is about Maud Pie.
In which Bill Shatner reminds us that he's an actor, not a joke other actors make, and the status of Ma and Pa Apple is FINALLY confirmed after seven long years. Oh, and there's a heartbreakingly bittersweet love story.
In which we get a do-over of "Sleepless in Ponyville". And Fly-ders.
In which the regular series writers show the movie writers how it's supposed to be done.
Well, I must say that this has been the least exciting, least suspenseful season premiere in the show’s entire history , (pause) and I LOVED IT!
Okay, I’m writing this because thanks to some spoilers from the internet, I’ve been hearing rumors of all kinds of Starlight hate popping up because of “A Royal Problem,” the synopsis for “To Change a Changeling,” and “Mirror Magic.” I haven’t actually seen “Mirror Magic” myself, but I’m not going to lie. All the negative opinions about it are making looking forward to it hard to do, but I’m going to go ahead and reserve judgment until I’ve actually seen it.
In which Pinkie Pie has a relapse of "Party of One" and Rainbow tries to flake her way out of being crusty about Pinkie's pies.
In which Rarity forgets Sweetie Belle isn't four years old anymore.
In which Applejack channels Simon Cowell.
In which Celestia and Luna are squabbling again, Twilight Sparkle is a music box, and my headcanon that the Cutie Map can summon ponies other than the Mane Six is confirmed!
All the way up to Daring Done. So let's see...
Not Asking For Trouble... Best Pinkie episode since The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows.
I found Discordant Harmony adorable, if a tad on the predictable side.
And wow, The Perfect Pear... I teared up a little!
Fame and Misfortune was incredible. It was as if the fandom invaded Ponyville itself.
Triple Threat was pretty good; though we viewed it as more of an "Ember and Thorax" episode rather than a Spike episode.
I was almost on the floor.
They went... So many places. So many glorious places.
Thoroughly enjoyed them. And not a two-parter, but two separate, fantastic Starlight-focused stories. Yay!
Still figuring out the Letter of the finale. I have days off Wednesday-Friday. Hopefully then.
In which Rumble goes into a frenzy.
(...fuck it. I'm not waiting until the DFC run to post my recap blogs of the newest leaked eps. Hell, nobody else is.)
In which Discord hosts a tea party...OF CHAOS!! (Not so much.)
In which ZEPPELIN! (Also, Twilight Velvet and Night Light get speaking roles again!)
Well shit!
After confirming himself to be a fan of the show and being so cryptic about whether or not he would do a voice on MLP, William Shatner has officially confirmed he's guest starring in Season 7!
Now all we need is Patrick Stewart as a character interacting with Discord and I can die happy.
OK so I need to talk about this because it's actually becoming a problem now.
Mixed feelings. Fairly funny on the whole, and the song battle was enjoyable. On the other hand, I got a bit bored by the actual romance stuff. So not as good as episode 7, but still a reasonably solid time-passer. ★★/★★★
