12170 words, 33 pages, ~90% done.
I know those numbers doesn't sound so much compared with last time, but there's a lot of polish that's gone into this chapter hidden behind those unassuming numbers.
Pro: Writing is going well, if slow.
Con: Chapter will probably not be completely done and proof-read until January, something.
11490 words, 32 pages, ~85-90% done.
On phone. Will be brief.
Bad: Halloween update's a bust. Sorry, I tried, but work is simply not cooperating right now.
Good: Chapter is almost done, and I have a light schedule Thursday-Friday. With some luck, the chapter might hit the pre-readers slash editors next week.
So-so: A scene grew in the telling, so I'm going to have to cut things slightly differently then planned. The new name for chapter 9 will be: My Power Is Not Complete.
The good: I'm back. It took two freakin' weeks of sick-leave I frankly don't remember much of, but I'm back.
The bad: I still wouldn't call myself outright well since I still have a frightful cough, and most of the strength I've regained both physically and mentally I've frankly had to use on the day job.
Thus, the ugly: Chapter #9 being done, polished up AND proofread by Monday seems... unlikely.

I've told a few already, but I'm trying to aim for an update before...
Well, an entire year has passed, to be blunt.
Sadly... August was not pleasant. I was knocked out an entire whole week from what I think was the flu and it hit me so bad I barely remember it, and now only a week later I've caught the worst cold I've had in years.
Did I mention the heavy rains and mosquito invasion?
Stargate Command is Earth's first line of defense against a hostile galaxy. Their mandate is "to seek out and recover intelligence and technology to assist Earth in its defense against these aggressors." It’s a dangerous job, and SGC’s mettle and defenses have been tested before. All past incidents were resolved successfully, with the normal citizens of America – and the world – none the wiser. But...
So, some good news, bad news time.
I just finished my term of employment a few days ago. Contract was up, and I left with a two-pronged glowing new mark on my CV from both the place I actually worked at and the local government agency that put me there, so it was a year well spent.
The 'problem,' is that I made such an impression, that I'm getting reshuffled into another year-long position ASAP (Tuesday).
Blue Beetle never asked for this. He was a simple car, his owner took care of him and his mechanic made sure he was roadworthy, he was perfectly happy with driving away from monsters, ramming into monsters, and occasionally being driven by monsters. All until some demon decided to play "Will It Smash?" with him and some overly pompous Jaguar and found the answer to be an emphatic yes.
The bad? Sadly not the 400 followers story. Still working on that.
The 'meh?' Scrap pile compilation, something a few of you've outright requested but most of you probebly aren't going about.
The good? Some big, behind the scenes 'take one's from Dark Horse. Including the horrid take one of Chapter #1 not even the editors seen, the Rarity based prototype I've mentioned, and a song number that never happened. Including a few more odds and ends not related to Dark Horse.
The final, final outline is done. Took a long time, a lot of trials and tribulations, tons of feedback I'm extremely grateful for...
But think I'm going to be real proud of this one, when all is said and done.
Number of chapters left and current planned names, behind the cut. For those of you that prefer to be surprised.
As always, thanks for your patiance, and for reading.
I have, due to prodding from one of my siblings, finally joined the twenty-first century, and gotten myself a PayPal account.
...
Yeah, I know. And I write at least one sci-fi story.
AKA, the stupid bet about mixing the two dumbest ideas he could think up that Jim Butcher laughed all the way to the bank on.
Those two ideas/old chestnuts—for the initiated, being, Whatever Happened To The Lost Legion—an alternative history work-horse whipped way, way post going rancid—and Pokemon.
A Dresden Files slash Kingdom Hearts crossover.
Yeah, yeah, but think about it.
The arguably biggest threat of the series? Inhuman, twisted monsters that normal weapons and magic barely touch. That crawl in from beyond the edges of the universe by corroding weak and greedy men from the inside.
In both series, certain rare and special weapons/artifacts will chose their wielders.

Next chapter #09 — ~10% Done — 0 Words.
(Outline done, but nothing written yet.)
For the obvious follow-up question, I'm hoping for an update on Dresden's birthday, (31'st) but I'm currently sick with a bad cold, and you guys know me and the accuracy of my ETAs by now.
Would be cool, though. Both in timing and the two updates in a month thing, but no outright promises right now.
Sorry for the long wait and delays.
And a special thanks and sorry to my editors for the glacial response times. The chapter wouldn't have been half as good without you guys, and I'm sorry I've been so busy lately.
Now I only need to try not gnawing my nails to the bone on the wait to the responses to the first update in over a year.
I've normally got a hair-trigger being creeped out by mind-control, but somehow this episode worked for me. Been quite a while since I laughed so much at an episode.
Think it's that Starlight's a clever idiot that thought that would work, and that there was zero ill-intent in the whole mess, but that she still made amends for it. Good lesson there about cleaning up even the well intended messes you leave behind.
(Yes, this is the anthro Dresden crossover I've helped on. Know anthro's a hot-button topic for a few of you, so please just skip the rest of this if you feel that's a deal-breaker by itself. )
...for the appallingly slow editing of chapter #8.
To both my readers, pre-readers, and editors. I toke full responsibility.
Short version: we're currently just coming out of the main vacation period here in Sweden, and it's been a complete circus at work for the last three-four weeks. Leaving me like this after work.
