The Book of Lore is an old series of articles for the game Them's Fightin' Herds, which are considered quasi-canon unless overridden by the story, as some parts have been.

Otherwise they are a good source of lore and character development for the first six characters and their native culture: but there are no entries for Shanty, Stronghoof, Texas, or Baihe.

This is my attempt to write a chapter for Shanty using parts of her Character page background from the official site, unpublished lore from devs talking on the Discord, and in-game lines and information.

This is not a crossover story with MLP.

To be fully clear, the writing from her Character page background appears in the first section only and is replicated in its entirety in Author's Notes.

Shanty has a heavy Jamaican dialect, speaking bilingually between English and Jamaican Patois, so I tried to work that into the dialogue for her and other goats: I have no personal experience with that dialect, so please tell me if I handled it incorrectly.

I attempted to mimic the format that the Oleander, Tianhuo, and Pom chapters share with present tense, and the third person internal monologue that every chapter other than Pom's uses.

After Arizona's battle with Oleander and FHTNG leaves her unconscious, Paprika carries her away to safety.

Though she at first struggles to understand Paprika, they will form a bond that may change the course of her adventure and of Foenum itself.

A baby step for an attempt at finishing the story we may never see completed.

I can't know or write the story Mane 6 would have told, but I can try to tell my own while respecting their vision: without the limits or opportunities of story mode gameplay.

Not a crossover or a shipping story.

There are two retcons here: that Paprika carried Arizona out of the temple instead of Arizona waking up on her own, and that the RSS Donner/Prancer stayed at port for a few days instead of leaving in the morning.

Since Velvet and Stronghoof appear to understand her, I chalk it up her incomprehensibility to an accent and a speech impediment.

To represent Arizona initially struggling to understand Paprika, I've mimicked the Papdings system used to code what she said: there will be a key alongside a spoilered, plaintext version below.

He’d left. Abandoned her. Betrayed her.

After everything they went through together, he threw her away like nothing, and the worst part is, Oleander shouldn’t even have been surprised.

Arizona had voiced her concern and Tianhuo adamantly despised concept of working with him, but Oleander never listened, often staying on his side during arguments that really should have indicated that something was off with him, but that’s probably what he was counting on. Slowly manipulating her and turning her against the others so that they couldn’t stop him when he showed his true colours, and now...

She had nothing to lose.

So why did the others care so much about keeping her around?

A story about Oleander losing her sole purpose in life, and being forced to find it once more by her fellow Champions.

They found the Hold, the source of the Predators.

The sealed it back up, but not without sacrifice.

They float between worlds, but not forever.

And they land somewhere else, in a place so far removed from what they know, yet eerily similar.

Long ago, in a realm similar to one we know well, Predators and Ungulates fought in a vicious war that ended with the Predators being banished to an interdimensional prison where they stewed for thousands of years. They managed to escape but were promptly sent back to their prison by the six champions of their homeworld.

Now being released from their prison for the third time, the last of the predators find themselves in a land somewhat similar to their own, yet different in many ways. United by their common predicament, the predators are ready to bring this world to its knees.

So whose going to stop them? Starlight Glimmer of course!

This may or may not be a good idea

After defeating the Predators, Oleander makes it to Equestria and meets Princess Twilight Sparkle. See how this goes as she just wants to study the knowledge of this new world and has no interest in making friends.

God damnit I never ask to be isekai along with my whole shed into this place they called Foenum.

I tried to be civil with the natives who are sentient animals from my home Earth, while i met some that are very friendly and welcoming, most just call me a predator and stay away from me but sometimes they try to fight me.

You know what? If they can't accept that peace is an option, then i got to fight them with my trusty guns, of course not killing them, I have a heart damn it.

The Hold has been sealed, and the Champion’s mission complete.

Most of them have their homes to return to, but not Oleander. The Order was hardly good to her, especially after her pact with a Demon, so where should she go now that her eternal mission is now complete?

There is that city of Reindeer where Velvet could put a good word in for her, and that other one that might be keen on getting to know her better.

There are many things surrounding the newly freed crystal empire that we do not yet understand, and may never comprehend after its liberation, one of those things is the cause of its destruction, King sombra, whose birth, rise to power, and motive are shrouded in mystery, a shroud that many are now trying to pull back.

Some say that sombra was once a regular unicorn, hollowed out in foal hood and infested with malignant spirits who fed off the fear and misery of his slaves.

Some say that he was a wicked thing that discovered forbidden magics and used them to enact his foul desires.

And some say, in a quieter voice than the others, that he was a warlock, a magician locked into a contract with a God, acting out the wills of his patron for an unknown boon or end goal. But that's obviously the most false of these theories. Because no alicorn would ever make a Pact with him, and alicorns were the only Gods that existed, right?

…right?

Well, i suppose it doesn't matter what lies beneath that mysterious veil, because that's not what this story is about, no, this story is about an umbral unicorn and his adopted daughter, the fact that said daughter just so happens to be the alicorn heiress to an empire he once ruled means nothing.
