What happens when a pony develops a phobia of a colour that surrounds her?
Asking for a friend.
An entry for Nightmare Night in April 2024 ( group | stories ).
Originally written for the Bean's Writing Group prompt "Trying to escape from somewhere/someone". On top of the prompt, and the "using color to convey emotion" bonus, I also tried to write it with only periods.
The cover definitely matches the story. Great work as always!
Thanks for having me involved!
Totally chilling. I love the twisted internal logic of it, and how vague all of the descriptions of Pinkie's actual physical actions are. I feel very spooked.
Okay. That maybe got a teensy bit "dark" at the end there.
Terrific idea.
Ah yes, Pinkie Pie ripping her own skin off. Average Sunday.
You don't like your skin? Well why don't you pull it off?

What madness is that?
Wonder what she’ll do if she realizes there’s pink inside her…
a great way to ease into more of the specifics of just what is wrong, and this perspective of disassociating with oneself is really well-done! that she is, for now, stymied by the scale of how much satisfying the buzzing in her head would go against her conscience, but the “believed” implying that it will later not be enough
and i love the cruel irony of this on top of how unsettling the specificity is of focusing on tongues.
and augh, yeah, that pink things stay pink even when you stomp on them is so true. and the fact that pony insides are also pink, one can imagine where this leads
and great escalation here of just how integrated the pink is with the bodies of the ponies
of course it was easy to see where this was going, but also inevitable given the premise. i think it would have been stronger with a change to the last long paragraph, so that what Pinkie does to get the knife has not yet happened but is clearly something she is planning on doing, leaving more horror to the imagination. but on the whole, great concept and execution of this!
