How Many Times Does Trixie Actually Say "I"?

One of Trixie's best-known traits in the fandom is that she speaks in the third person all the time. But does she really? Turns out, no one has ever counted the times she says "I." Until now...

Reference/Inspiration List for "Where Black Seas Lap the Shores of Dead Stars"

Rather than litter the author's notes with references in my usual style, I thought I'd try something a little different. So, for the curious, I've made a separate blog post of all the references and allusions you might have missed!

Hat Man Reviews: "Haze" by Bandy!

Haze is a story that is filled with big ideas: Cloud empires. Flying earth ponies. Ancient religions. Superpower-inducing fungi. Unfortunately, much like the mushroom-munching ponies in this story, this story might be biting off more than it can handle…

"Iron Horse" fans: New Robot Story news! · 9:49pm May 17th

Hello, robot fans! Knowing the gorgeous, tasteful people you are, I have two things that might be of interest to you...

First, if you haven't checked out my new story "When Black Seas Lap the Shores of Dead Stars," I wrote for the Sci-Fi 3 contest, you really should! It features a cute robot protagonist and some lovely emotional moments, which I know you "Iron Horse" fans like. I'm really proud of how it came out, and I'd like to see it do well, so I hope you kind folks will give it a chance. Hopefully, it will tide you over until the next proper Turing Test outing. Speaking of which, on to the second tidbit...

Remember that Turing Test murder mystery story I was working on? Well, it's getting closer to finally coming out! As for what's taken so long, it was a combination of the following:

  • Stress at work throwing me off my game (it's better now, mostly)
  • Taking time to read more mystery stories to learn how to properly write one myself, since this will be my first time.
  • Scrapped my original idea and had to start over once I figured out a more interesting concept.

I realize that's got to be frustrating for everyone who wanted to see Turing again and thought it would happen earlier, but I am taking this very seriously and want to write the best story possible for you all, so I hope you forgive me my delays. My goal is to have the story done and start releasing in mid- to late-June, so I hope you don't mind being patient for just a bit longer.

Thanks a lot folks. Hope you like "Black Seas" now and "Murderous Machinations" next month!

I am so happy that the Turing mystery suggestion is actually getting written!

Take your time! As an avid lover of mysteries myself, scrapping and starting over is a very common thing.

I highly recommend the book Writing and Selling Your Mystery Novel, by Hallie Ephron. It contains LOADS of good advice for writing.

If I can find the time between actually writing the darn thing, then I might do that, but I think I've got things squared away now.

Took me a while to figure out some good twists and turns in addition to plotting out a mystery that neither impossible to figure out nor too obvious to be uninteresting.

Happened to me SEVERAL TIMES in the course of writing my murder mystery Bloodhound. Lemme know if you want a hand in the future!

Sorry about the work stress, but glad things have improved there!

Good luck!
