Fanfiction Spotlight #48, with Bonus reminder about Scribblefest 2017! · 3:14am Feb 22nd, 2017
Good evening readers and writers! Heartshine is a bit late (again) and has been sufficiently chastised by Twilight Sparkle for her tardiness. That said, don't be late submitting your entries for 2017's Scribblefest! Want the details? Go check it out here in our blog entry about Scribblefest 2017!
This week we have two cute, short stories for you. Silver Flare checked out a story about a sad clown, and I read an awesomely adorable piece about bubblewrap.
As always, read and enjoy, and see you this weekend, when I (hopefully) will actually publish one of these on time!

The Clown
by The Minister of Scones
Words: 2,408 Complete: Yes
Recommended by Silver Flare
Meet Chuckles, the clown. He’s the absolute paragon of the depressed, downtrodden, jaded performer archetype. His life is a series of slips, trips, wacky fumbles and expertly-timed, morose gazes across a jeering crowd. His acts aren’t even announced, he’s just one of several ponies in thick face paint who tumble and cavort between the real acts. Chuckles doesn’t wrestle with depression so much as he and depression have reached an amicable cease-fire and just regularly meet for drinks. So why does he clown, you ask? Because, every so often, something happens that reminds him why he started clowning in the first place.
Immediately, this cute little one-off hooked me with its cynical tone and short, conversational sentences. The narrator is Troubleshoe-sy with a splash of Eeyore-Old-Enough-To-Drink-Whiskey, and it makes for an enjoyable read right off the bat. Then we get to meet lanky little Fillyflutters, being just as adorashy as anyone could ask for. Of course, what makes Fluttershy so endearing here is how courageously she fights her own shyness in order to express herself. And how tenderly our friend Chuckles handles this little moment.
It’s cute. It’s short. Go check it out.

Sunset Shimmer Discovers Bubble Wrap
by Sidral Mundet
Words: 2,213 Complete: Yes

Packages full of new things you buy are wonderful. They are extra wonderful when they are filled with bubble wrap! I mean, bubble wrap may be the greatest human invention, after all! Sunset Shimmer is completely fascinated by something as mundane and normal as bubble wrap because, as she informs her human world friends, Equestria lacks bubble wrap. She also finds that living in a world without bubble wrap is a tragedy indeed.
Bubble wrap popping and shenanigans ensue. This story was short, sweet, and silly. It's really cute, and it just goes to show that pranking your friends can actually, on occasion, bring them great joy.
So when the folder for this year coming up?
So both Twitter and Tumblr reported that we have a week left for Scribblefest, though the due date on all documentation says it's due by March 7. Can you clarify?
