Journal Entry - Volume 3 - Chapter 6 · 7:36pm May 27th, 2019
Dear Journal,
Ember and I went to see her father the Dragon Lord today. Now I know she said he was big and all, but… I wasn’t prepared for this! I mean… he was literally the size of a skyscraper! Anyways… she brought him up to speed on what she had been up to. Considering the Tartarus incident, I thought he would have been more impressed! However, he seemed to only want to hear more about the warrior she had been travelling with!
When she told him that was me, I felt eyeballed… literally! That was creepy! I mean… his PUPIL was bigger than I am! Not believing what he had been told, he resorted to somehow reading my mind to discover the truth. He… wasn’t exactly pleased at the idea of a “lesser creature” marring his daughter though! Truthfully, I’m kinda glad about that part! Ember on the other hand was devastated! Even more so when her father told her she had to choose from three others right now! I was able to get her out of it by beating them all!
In the end the Dragon Lord was convinced I had SOME use! Even going so far as to let me take three items from his personal horde! I guess that’s a big deal to dragons, so I took only small treasures. A ring, and book and a crystal with a spear inside it! According to Ember’s father, it was kinda like the old Sword in the Stone myth we have back on Earth. Guess I was worthy, because I was able to pull it out! But when I did, some kinda power coursed through me! Empowering me! I’ll have to see what I can do now!
We left and returned to Ember’s house. She was… really sad by the results of the meeting and still wants to marry me! I think she understands that it wouldn’t work, but… that doesn’t change her feelings toward me. I’ll stay with her as best I can, but… no one really gets to choose how long they live! Journal… I… I kinda wish you could talk back to me sometimes. It would be nice to tell a living creature about this! Ember… she’s… pretty, I guess. But… I like our relationship as it is! Just two friends! After all, even is she wasn’t the Dragon Lord’s daughter, she still deserves a mate that can be there for her through the centuries! And that certainly is not me.
Don’t judge others based on outward appearance. But rather on what’s in their heart.
