Greetings, everyone! This evening, I will be reviewing the 2008 3D-animated film by the name of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, not to be confused with the actual show with the same name. This very movie that commenced one of the most well-known cartoons especially on the Cartoon Network platform for some reason has a low score on Rotten Tomatoes with an 18% and with a 40% audience score. My question is simply this: Why? How come this was apparently poorly received?

Now to clear this up, I actually introduced myself to this show when I was a kid. I only managed to watch a few episodes of the first season until I somehow stopped watching it. I probably was too bored with it or I became disinterested with it along the way back in 2008. Either way, I never followed the series all the way through since I stopped loving Star Wars as I grew older. I never even watched this movie until just last month.

To be honest, I genuinely enjoyed watching this movie. This honestly gave me a good impression of what Star Wars is really about and actually gave me some form of encouragement to go back to the series and watch it all the way through. However, it will be a long time until I love Star Wars again.

Anyway, I want to talk about how this film created this new dynamic storyline that takes place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith about Anakin Skywalker and his character growth during the Clone Wars. First off, I like how this movie shows us the more serious, emotional, and stronger side of Anakin and how he exactly conducted his behavior and deportment. Although I haven’t watched the main series that much, from what I’ve seen so far, Anakin undergoes a path that leads him to many different tribulations and tests that reveals much of his own character. That type of path eventually leads him to the dark side. This movie has done well in giving that kind of emotion for Anakin.

Obi-wan Kenobi was also really awesome in this movie. I like how he is being portrayed as an older brother and mentor figure for Skywalker throughout the journey. Not to mention the fact that his sarcasm, sense of humor, and smug personality is the best part of him. It’s the same impression I got from him in Revenge of the Sith. James Arnold Taylor was the best choice for Obi-wan’s voice to be fair. Likewise for Matt Lanter for voicing Anakin.

This movie even introduced a new character named Ahsoka Tano, one of the most beloved characters in Star Wars to this day. I really liked her character and personality in this! The way she and Anakin actually first met and interacted in all this was really done well through great writing. They got on each other’s nerves at first via a master-apprentice relationship until they warmed up to each other. It’s a great way to great solid character growth along with good dialogue and an interesting story. I heard how she was hated by a lot of fans at first until she soon became loved by almost everyone as the series went on. To me, that’s the power of character development.

The action scenes were really good and animated well, the character designs were top-notch, and the soundtrack is awesome. Although I am not a big fan of 3D-animation that much, it was still really appealing to watch.

The villains were also entertaining to watch, namely Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress. Dooku is portrayed as a powerful, cunning, calculating, evil, and sadistic manipulator who sought only for power and to destroy the Jedi while following Darth Sidious. His great voice was excellently provided by the late Christopher Lee.

Ventress was likewise an interesting antagonist. That fight scene with Obi-wan was really amazing because it seemed much more intense than some of the fight scenes in the actual show. To me, it felt real and intense due to their much swifter, deadly lightsaber swings. Boy, Nika Futterman was really good as Ventress in this.

Props also to Kevin Michael Richardson for voicing Jabba the Hutt, Dee Bradley Baker for voicing Captain Rex, and Samuel L. Jackson for voicing Mace Windu.

In conclusion, this whole movie was a great way to start the series and to draw in fans to this new experience and storyline for the Star Wars franchise since 2008, and it apparently has become a very successful series as a whole and has become loved by many. Wow... just wow. Can’t believe they actually returned to the show with a seventh season on Disney+.

That makes me hope more for the return of Transformers: Animated season 4. But it’s just wishful thinking.

Thus, I give this movie a solid 10/10!

Peace!

Ashoka went from being hated, to being hyped for a live-action appearance.

That's the power of character development.

Here's one point you may want to mention: This Movie was the premier of the most iconic Clone Trooper ever bred: Captain Rex.

Say that to those who are actually fans of him.

I'm a fan of him. I mean, he's got the highest kill count of all the troopers. Not mention he's the oldest and seen plenty of action.

I own the complete set of the show (6 seasons) and love the way throughout the series the characters mature. You see the hints of Anakin turning to the darkside if you've never seen the movies as well.
