Announcing: LyraBon Contest · 4:58am Sep 12th, 2022
i totally forgot to announce this on my blog earlier! there are three weeks left to enter now! reproduced from the forum thread after the break:
i love them so much
like they were one of the reasons i was so drawn to MLP in the first place, watching the show and engaging with the fandom for the very first time in my life in the late summer of 2020. i just loved the fandom version of these ponies, with Lyra being a wacky li'l shid and comedic foil to the "straight mare" of Bon Bon, who was much too sensible for her own good, and whose fandom Bronclyn accent i absolutely adored.
and then the canon! Bon Bon being a secret agent just added so many possibilities for both her character and the worldbuilding of Equestria, and there were just so many cute moments and hints, especially in the later seasons. but like for real i just watch this scene
over and over and over again and just cry happily? i really really really really love them and think about them a lot, and though the fanfic writing portion of the community seems to have understandably moved on from a ship that was so popular in the early years, i would love to see what a LyraBon story would look like from the writers of today, this post-canon era.
so i'm running a contest about it!
the contest ends on 2022 Sep 18Oct 02 8PM ET. entries should be complete and placed in the contest folder before then. if you're running close, make sure to PM me the final text of your story before the deadline in case anything happens with the queue. no exceptions!
the prize pool will be at least $80 in total, with distribution to depend on the stories. more and better stories will result in more placements and money in the prize pool.
all prizes will be sent by Paypal. if you do not want to or cannot accept a cash prize, we may come to an agreement on donating it to a charity, or a commission.
the winning spots will include at least one shorter and/or at least one "lighter/fluffier" entry, if applicable.
you can write as many entries as you want, with a total limit of 15kw. if this is not enough for you, you should probably write for one of these contests too if you have so much time:

- the Cozy Glow group's Cozy Glow Short Story Contest #3, ending 2022 Sep 25.
