On the first morning after her sister's return, Princess Celestia does something she hasn't done for a thousand years.
Twilight's power, along with that of Celestia, Luna, and Cadance, has been claimed by Tirek. Drunk on power, the demon-centaur is unleashing destruction upon Equestria, his reign of terror just beginning.
But there is hope. A crystalline chest, a gift from the Tree of Harmony, able to be opened by six keys. Keys which Twilight has now claimed the last of. All they can do is hope, hope that whatever is contained inside the chest is enough to stop Tirek.
And then something goes wrong ...
Note: This story is in no way connected with my other fanfics. It's very much a one-off in good fun.
==Originally written Fall 2011== Equestria Daily Post==
After a long day of ruling Equestria, the Royal Sisters need a chance to unwind. Luna's solution is a few glasses of her once famous Moonshine, a drink distilled from moonlight. Celestia has been sober for a thousand years, but the temptation to have "just one" glass proves too great. Yet, when that one glass turns into several, it's Twilight who will have to deal with the princesses when they’re drunk off their flanks.
Twilight looked over to her dear mentor, Princess Celestia, and found she had once again fallen asleep mid-lesson. Her intense debate on awakening the princess was cut short when the decision was taken out of her hooves.
“Huh? Oh. Twilight, I am so sorry for falling asleep again. I think we need to reschedule this for tomorrow morning.”
Twilight nodded. After all, Princess Celestia was obviously overworked. If only there was something she could do to help.

Celestia: a filly of twelve. A cynical, hungry pauper, with a young sister to protect and feed.
But the food has run out. Winter has gripped the land for too long, and now the pair face starvation.
The cynic in Celestia knows she can't move the sun. But the child in her wonders... and so she tries.

This story is a sequel to Dear Princess Sunbutt
When Anon takes the liberty to inject his particular brand of humor into Twilight's friendship lessons, Celestia feels the need to respond, more often than not.
A somewhat unofficial sisterfic to 2Merr's Dear Princess Sunbutt
There may not be a response to every letter, and letters 1-11 were taken from my comments in said sister-story.
Please support 2Merr's story too if you like this one. This is written with encouragement of the original author.

EDIT: Apparently someone's done a reading of this and its sisterfic over on Youtube! Why does nopony tell me these things.
Anon takes over Spike’s job of transcribing Twilight’s friendship reports. He does exactly what you’d expect.
Companion fic containing Celestia’s replies up to Letter 120 - To: Anon, From HRH Sunbutt written by Snow
Every year, I write to the princess. I think she's amazing. I want to be just like her.
I wonder if she'll ever reply.
