I'm going to read this later and comment agan when I read it but for now I would like to say that this Idea for a story is brilliant (I mean it caught my eye) and it seems it could have had WAAAAAAY more chapters (and more shananagins(I don't know if I spelt that last word right))
You have a constant problem with diction, and using words in bizarre and incorrect ways, specifically whenever you try to reach for a big word in describing something. You'd do better to keep your word usage simple and not distract from your narrative, which is progressing nicely.
