I do have to agree with Mouse here, it really wasn't necessary to have all of them paired up with each other. Really, when I see that happen, my brain automatically translates those lines as "These are all the couples I ship! I'm going to throw them together in this story so everyone will know I ship them!"
But the story isn't about Rarity and Fluttershy, or Applejack and Rainbow Dash, it's about Twilight and her mystery date, and this cavalcade of your other ships only serves to take some of the focus away from that. I just can't approve of this
Because really why do any of them who aren't the main focus need to be paired up with anyone? It's not so they can give Twilight dating advice; Rarity has always had a flair for romance, Applejack's a farmer and therefore naturally has advice on any subject, Fluttershy is too supportive not to come up with something and Pinkie Pie is, well, Pinkie Pie. Is it because you think only lesbians can be supportive of a lesbian relationship? That's a bullshit reason. Keep the romance centered on the ones who are supposed to be the focus of this story.
That was actually quite enjoyable

473981 Yeah, it is a bit contrived that all of the mane cast are lesbians. I'd hardly say that that means 99% of all ponies are lesbians though; 7 ponies don't constitute 99% of the population. I see the point you're trying to make, and I suppose I'm hardly being original by pairing members of the mane cast with eachother, but I like lesbian shipping, and I'm going to write what I like. I'm sorry you didn't like this.
474341 In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have paired up everyone in the mane cast. I blame hurried writing, because the first chapter was originally written as part of a 2 hour speedfic challenge. I made a brief mention of Rarity x Fluttershy and Applejack x Rainbow Dash getting together, and I didn't feel like changing that when I edited it.
My intent wasn't to say that only lesbians could be supportive of other lesbians, but I suppose it does come off that way. I realise now that I should have spent less time focusing on the relationships of the mane cast and more on Twilight, and I'll make sure to remember that in the future. Thanks for the criticism - I'll definitely keep it in mind while I write the 3rd chapter.

474341 you do know this takes place after another story right? the world is already set so the event form the other story still holds.
With that said, I am enjoying this story a great deal I can so the ups and downs this date will hold and I can see Rainbows advise coming in t play as well. I like it. Please keep it up

Okay, that explains Rarity and Fluttershy. It does not at all explain why Applejack and Rainbow Dash needed to be in a relationship too.
Also, I find that practice kind of distasteful. If it's not a direct sequel, saying it's built on the events of another story doesn't excuse having details like that that aren't relly led into or explored. Have you ever watched Atop the Fourth Wall? It's like tie-in comics. I shouldn't have to read a completely unrelated story to know what's going on in THIS story.
So happy to see this fic back up and running again! And a nice way of putting it together. Looking forward to the next chapter!

I'm totally with you on the whole issue of Trixie's portrayal; sure, I've tracked quite a few fics with the Sad and Apologetic Trixie, but I much prefer the proud and haughty approach. It just adds so much more conflict with such a problematic personality in play.
Anyway, hoping it won't be abandoned again, 'cause things just got a bit more intriguing

1292401 Glad you're enjoying its return! I thought that it would be a good place to end the chapter, which is the reason that the chapter is so short. I have an awful habit of trying to end chapters on a note that keeps the reader interested in finding out what happens next, and I rarely pull it off, so I'm glad you liked where I ended it.
