When the Burning Legion aided those who sought to overthrow the Princesses, Twilight and Rainbow Dash were lost to Equestria. Stuck in a new world, a world of war and strife known as Azeroth, Twilight will have to learn the hard way that the universe isn't as friendly as Equestria. With no Princess Celestia to ask for guidance, with no Luna to keep the nightmares at bay, and with no peace or Harmony, Twilight must make a choice. Is she to be a symbol, to sit safe in a temple somewhere, dispensing advice while others fight and die in this cruel world? Or is she to take an active role, and learn just what it means to be an Alicorn?
As trolls are attempting to resurrect their dead god, the Black Dragon flight are hatching their own schemes, the undead are massing in the plaguelands for another war, and an old god is reawakening with it's army in Silithus, Twilight couldn't make any other choice.
Jesus, did Kil'jaeden himself lead the charge? As powerful as he is, I don't think even Discord would be able to win against him. I mean, it's Kil'jaeden.
… and his name is Leeroy Jenkins!
The LAST three words anybody in Azeroth ever wants to hear, neck and neck with the four words 'It's the Old Gods'.
Hmm, though what happened to the Rainbow Power? That would've fucked Kil'jaeden up something fierce, maybe even Sargeras. Did he take precautions against it?
Capitalize Light.
There's always that one asshole.
Just wait until he goes to Outland and meets up with the Naaru...
Ah, I remember those days. So much nostalgia. And so much farming. *Shudders* Endless, endless farming...
Love this story, and your writing is top notch! I will be looking at this very, very closely.

Hahaha, no. That was 'just' a Doomguard. Running off of Vanilla in this story, so at the time, a Doomguard was a ridiculously powerful monster that warlocks had to continually enslave (assuming they survived summoning it). I kept the descriptions fairly vague, as the viewpoint was from a character that had no idea what she was seeing. If you thought Kil'Jaeden, I may have left it a bit too vague :D
I pretty huge part of me wanted to work either Leeroy or Jenkins into his name somehow, but meh. Leeroy is hilarious and awesome, this gnome is just a stand in for the guy that everyone hates, but is related to/best friends with/married to the GM, so you have to deal with them.
Understandably, I don't want to go into too much detail here. I plan on addressing this later in the story.
Good catch man. I fixed that up.
Glad you enjoyed the read!
6458890
Oh I remember. Way back then I was in Darkshire in Duskwood with my pally, and a bigshot level 60 warlock was looking for sacrifi - volunteers to summon a Doomguard. She died if I remember correctly, and it was put down by the NPCs, so she had to go summon a Doomguard via Curse of Doom, like a peasant.
But I just saw 'red, minotaur, wings' and thought Killy. Doomguards were more brownish in my memory.
6458554
Even if Kil'jaeden was there, it'd be pretty unlikely for a bunch of unicorn sorcerers to find and harness a big enough power source to be able to summon his real self without Celestia noticing. Discord could probably tangle with an incomplete projection of Kil'jaeden, at least.
Anyway, this seems interesting, so I'll be following it. My last Warcraft game was The Frozen Throne though, and I hope I won't get TOO lost by the WoW content.
I do kinda hope we can see how the others -especially the princesses- handle their sudden disappearance. Looking forward to more!
6458912
Doomguards come in a variety of colors, really. http://wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Doomguard Got some red, some brown, there's a blue one on the page. Hahaha.
6459689
I'm not gonna lie, having a bit of familiarity with WoW would help. I'll see what I can do about making it more accessible to a wider audience without having to link to the wowwiki every other paragraph, or have the exposition drown out the actual story. Something I've been struggling with actually.
6471781
No worries, it'll be addressed fairly soon(tm).
Holy crap, the Legion was just like "KNOCK KNOCK!" onto them. Good thing Twilight blasted them to kingdom come. Though the problem is with doomguards and other such demons is that, well, she didn't actually kill it. And it knows that. It knows that it's not actually going to die, just be banished for a bit, so what reason does it have to ever be afraid?
Though it's good to see Twilight got the communication spell up and running ASAP. Hope to see her getting some time talking with Tyrande. Also eagerly awaiting Rainbow's imminent freakout.
Though I feel bad for when they'll realize that everything they've ever loved has been destroyed...
6481961
I don't think we know Equestria's status right now. They might have been conquered, or the demon invasion could have been relatively small, with the ponies rallying (perhaps with the help of reinforcements, from say, Cloudsdale) and driving them off.
6482278 I don't know, the Burning Legion doesn't exactly strike me as the type to do 'half measures'. After all, surely they weren't just sitting around twiddling their thumbs for the 10,000 years between the War of the Ancients and Archimonde's invasion.
6482334
Well, if the portal that the unicorn council opened isn't big enough and/or couldn't stay open for a long period of time, they wouldn't really have much of a choice. It takes some pretty incredible power sources to open a portal big enough to let more than just the rank and file through, after all. It all just depends on what the council could manage to pull off without Celestia noticing what they were up to.
This is fantastic! I just hope you're not going to force a romantic ship between Twilight or Rainbow with any of the others. Every time I read a good crossover, it seems the author feels it necessary to have a romantic relationship pop outta nowhere. Keep up the good work!
6482381 Well the way I was thinking that you can open a portal to let lesser demons through... then those lesser demons can let greater demons through, and it all spirals out of control from there. After all, in the Sunwell it was 3 eredar standing around the Sunwell summoning Kil'jaeden, and Equestria seems to have no shortage of magical artifacts.
Oh well. We'll see when the author deigns to explain.
6481961
You're just a wee more pessimistic than I am. I know I slapped that dark tag on it, but, uh, it's not THAT dark.
Yet >.>
6482422
*quietly adds chapter seven to the burn pile*
Just kidding :D Probably a minor spoiler alert (or just a genre clarification), but my outline goes to the end of Vanilla, and there is no hot humanoid-on-pony sex, explicit or implicit. I make no promises to not have characters joke about it though. Of course, the usual caveat of "Anything not published is subject to change" applies.
Missing punctuation.
I fucking hate you.
Dying must seriously screw you up if you're used to having no chance of revival.
Okay, so it wasn't a full blown 'Earth and Sky shall burn' Legion invasion. That's good.
foal's tale
Problem is that demons well... don't die. And then there's the matter of their heavy hitters... Luna has no way of knowing this of course.
Clever way of incorporating that!
God damn night elves.
Capitalize Scourge.
Oh shit.
Ooh, there's definitely a story there. Though now, I think they'd better start squeezing him for as much Legion intel as they can.
6546391
Since when do Warcraft demons not die? Dread Lords are persistant, and are often able to eventually resurrect if not killed the right way, and Sargeras survived death via a possession gambit, but everything else can be murdered just fine if you're powerful enough, as far as I know. Archimonde never came back (without time travel shenanigans), for example.
6547040 The first time I saw it explicitly said is here: Banish the Demons
And yeah, the more powerful ones seem to die permanently. My theory is that their power 'implodes' upon their souls and annihilates them.
Vanilla story? That's........ damn rare. But it's good point to start. Way way before this stupid power creep when number had gone in mlions.
So it looks like poor Twillight and Dash will see C'tun in full glory? Poor people.
Hmm I don't think that Eqestria is coonquered. Yet. Without really really powerful power source Legion would not attack them. And I don't recall any that high power level things in Questria to fuel Portal for long time. maybe Celetsia and Luna as bateries coul pull that stunt and Discord thrown for good measure eventually Crystal Heart being pluged to all world of love.
So Twillight is technically a demigood in status even if ther are light years in terms of power? I think it might feat to this. Even if still Archimond Kilejdann or Arthas/Illidan/Deathwing/Ragnars and other Elemntal Lords in essence any end game boss could kill her with little effort.
Do Discord had losse his home to a Legion? So funny enough it will be him who will put sense to a Luna head? You can't win against Legion in theyr home turf. We don't know how many races of demons Sargers had conquered or how many Elementals but we can say this. It's by a good margin more then Equestra can muster.
6547040
Demons in Warcraft are simmilar to this in Warhammer 40k. They are perpetual (ergo they will reshape themselves after few milenia). The only way to kill them is to kill them inside Twhisting Nether or by usuing powerful magic.
6546391
Thanks for the corrections. Got them fixed :)
I didn't actually plan on using the line when I conceived of this story. Then, having to explain that you can be resurrected happened, and I was too weak to resist :(
At the very least, I'd believe so.
No, no she does not :D
6547040
It's sorta-kinda confusing. Demons don't 'die' as a general rule of thumb, they're just banished back to the twisting nether. But some demons have a nasty habit of dying for-realsies, such as pit lords. WoW lore treats it really inconsistently.
6548465
I agree. Going hoof-to-tentacle with an old god can't be good the old mental health.
Qualifying as a demigod isn't actually that high of a bar, if we're honest, and isn't really based on raw power. Twilight's ascension to an Alicorn is pretty much a text-book example of a mortal becoming a demigod.
She's an Alicorn, and to *me* at least, that means something. She isn't all powerful, and she isn't going to solve all of Azeroths problems with a wave of her horn, but she's still a power in her own right, even if that power is dwarfed by pretty much every big name in the setting.
6549228
I think it depends on how powerful demon is on his own. My hedcanon is that lesser demons like Fell Besasts or Infernals to some extnet Dumgards die and they don't reshape in TW unleas they heve help. But beings like Hakkar/Mannorth/Kilejdan/Archimonde will reform after deacde or something. The only exception is Sargeras he is shattered on countless shards and unleas demons find his body and putt it together he can't assume full power or physical form.
It's even vorse. We need remeber that Azeroth is Old Gods prsion so races who lived ther had some kinf of passive resistance on them. Twi and Rainbow on the other hand? Let just I wouldn't be suprised if they start to hear voices at some point of time.
Thrue. But here is a problem. Twillight or Dash would have a lot of problems to get and kill your enemy. For instance Verilatrasz. He is a good guy but after tender care Lord Nefarius he is just beond redemption and killing him is mercy. It might hmm not broke them but they might see that sometimes death is far better then living.
6549467
I don't think so. Sure they may have shared Azeroth with the Old Gods, but the Old Gods spent all that time completely sealed away and only recently have they gained any foothold.
6550001
And yes Neltharion is more insane then Barrel full of squirrels after Met coctail.
6549467
Not seeing the problem here :)
I think her fainting is a bit over the top in a serious story like this. I mean, she waa only mildly discombobuled when she changed species and became a princess, and it's not like Tyrande actually called her a goddess, despite what Rainbow apparently got out of it. IIRC, we've actually seen Rainbow faint more than Twilight in the show.
/shrug
So I'm guessing Immol'thar got away easy?
Well to be fair, to Dash Equestria WOULD be mundane.
Just wait until she gets in the air.
First, forgotten period. Second, unless she suddenly pulls her hooves back the moment before impact, speed is going to equate to strength. Force=Mass*Acceleration after all.
Capitalize Alliance.
So... Azeroth magic tends to be lower in scale but easier to use than Equestria magic. I like it.
You may be Doomguard, but you'll never be Supreme Doomlord.
So... we gonna get Chrysalis joining up with the defenders eventually? I like it.
OH YOU DONE FUCKED UP NOW!
Eh, couldn't/wouldn't. Ulduar hasn't been discovered yet so I'm guessing she doesn't know about the whole 'Old Gods have a deadman switch on Azeroth' thing.
You mean like Old God Eternals? Ruh roh. Though while - again - she doesn't know this, the fact that Y'Shaarj gets completely annihilated makes me doubt the whole 'Old Gods are Eternal' theory.
Ha! Yeah, I can only imagine Tyrande's reaction when she learns Twilight was a mortal ascended into Eternalhood.
Excellent chapter, I again eagerly wait for more.
6650592
Well, it *IS* Twilight. She panics over every little thing, to a ridiculous degree, and she's essentially been putting off her entire freakout because she's had to take of Dash.
6650633
Ugh. Forgot, everyone isn't on the same page with WoW Lore. Immol'thar is greatly weakened after being used as a batter for so long, and as a result, the good old Prince has been sacrificing his own people to continue fueling their immortality. It would certainly make sense that they would look for another battery :)
Well, yes, the faster she hits, the *harder* she hits, for the same amount of 'weight' behind the strike. The problem is, she's also trying to punch the face in of what is essentially a level 60 raid ready tank, and for all her aggressiveness, she has no real experience. In essence, she's predictable.
Basically. It's vanilla, so all that is really known is that they existed, and some folks might be aware that they're imprisoned.
Obviously, not every Eternal is equal. Nor does being an Eternal prevent them from being killed.
Intreting. I have this strange feeling that Medivh might pop out soon. And with the most popular theory he is Eternal now an probably one of the most powerful of them. Being a hot of Sargaeras for so long had porbably a lot of consequences like takeing a lot of his power in to himself.
6651274
... I thought that was the point of being Eternal? Or am I mixing it up with Greek Mythology?
6651887
An Eternal is an actual Thing in WoW Lore. I'm not as familiar with Greek (or anyone's) mythology as I could be, so it may be drawn heavily from them as well. Or not. I don't know. Tyrande basically stated exactly what an Eternal is. Think of it as the entire grey area between "Immortal in the 'will not die of old age' sense" and "I farted out the big bang". Titans, Old Gods, the top of the Burning Legion, the Lich King, the Troll Loa's. We're talking plenty of beings that could claim godhood and have a court potentially rule in their favor, and quite a few that would be laughed out of court for trying to press such a claim. There's also 'mortals', such as the Guardians of Tirisfal (so yes, Medivh would count as an Eternal), Xavius, and Azshara, but again, they're only mortal in the sense that they began as Mortals, but they're certainly immortal, if still killable, now. So Twilight would also be added to this list.
Note: All Eternals are Immortal, not all immortals are Eternals.
So I take it that Rainbow Dash will be beating people up in this story? Will Twilight be badass in this story?
6689076
If by 'badass' you mean nigh omnipotent overpower-Sue god of death and destruction? No. If you merely mean 'badass', well, that's kinda a requirement to survive in this world :D On that note, this IS Warcraft, so plenty of dead things are pretty badass too...
MOAR!
6458554 I personally would much more prefer Vanilla Warcraft 3, but Vanilla WoW is close enough
6547068 huh. I'll be damned! Word for word.
Enjoying it so far. Quite happy you didn't stick with some of the stupider aspects of vanilla (such as warriors being the only real tanks - the sight of a Druid or pally in your raid not in healer spec would make you throw up just before kicking them from the guild).
I look forward to reading the rest after work.
Good story looking forward to see what happens next.
Gah, took WAY too long to review this.
Oh boy. Now the cat's out of the bag and everyone's going to be looking to Twilight as the next Elune, even though most of them are like, 10+ times her age. Can't imagine the kind of stress that will cause her.
At the very least, when shit really hits the fan Twilight has nerves of steel.
next chapter please.
when is the next chapter
The first time I heard this theme I had to to think about Rainbow Dash in your story.
I would like to see this story update again... but given the Author's not bothered to log on since February, I'm going to guess that's unlikely, nevermind how long the story itself has gone without updating.
This is a very interesting well-written story that I would love to see more of. I love how you have worked Twilight into the WoW world and her reactions to everything in this story have been just perfect. Thank you for sharing this story with us.
you know i would have thought that twilight would know somthing about that since alicorn worship was a thing, but i guess this is proof they are not crazy
this was a great chapter, its a shame it had not been updated in 7 years, perhaps one day ill make a story like it
it sounds like the legions invasion is going off with a rocky start. perhaps they will lose there grip on the world
I get that the void walkers would need to be enslaved by the unicorns, since they serve the void lords not the legion but the other demons should be helping them willingly if the unicorns were allied with the legion. so why was the doom guard bound in chains, or betraying the council?
