This story is a sequel to Thomas and Friends: Sunny's Christmas Party
A few months have passed since the magic was restored to the world, and people are still figuring out how to navigate this strange new world. Within the town of Falmouth, the annual Festival of the Sea is approaching, and planning is being overshadowed by strange events breaking out across town. Can Sunny and her friends get to the bottom of the mayhem before the festival goes belly-up?
A loose adaption of the Make your Mark special, and the first story released as part of the celebration of 40 years of My Little Pony.
Good use of this orchestra cover of the theme for the intro!
Ah yes, the Sports Train from Top Gear, I remember that episode quite well.
Dank Farrik, don't you hate when birds steal from you? But, typically I've seen it done with magpies and seagulls since they're attracted to shiny objects. But I never heard of a pigeon stealing a cellphone.

Seeing as the last story opened with an orchestral arrangement of TTTE music, I thought it would make sense to do the opposite this time. Interestingly, G5 is the only generation thus far not to feature the MLP leitmotif as part of a sung melody, instead being briefly quoted by the instrumentation at the start.

1. Hilariously, for all of James and Richard's protests, the Sports Train was the only one that actually completed the run. The Caravan Train caught fire then got blown to bits by a passing train. I used to live near the railway where that was filmed, funnily enough.
2. Pigeons do have a habit of grabbing things they see when airborne. Trust me, it's way better when they decide to do that; 9 times out of 10 they take a dump on stuff.
11466489
Yeah, my father really thought that episode was quite hilarious.
Really? That's really cool!
That's true. Funny thing about the magpie stealing items, I saw it happen on Mr. Bean the animated series and The County Mouse and City Mouse when they were in London. As for the seagull, it was in an episode of Clifford the Big Red Dog. But it doesn't mean it's fake. Magpies can be quite a pack rat and gulls, if they eat anything that looks like food, no doubt they would steal objects too.
11466488
Understandable. I mean sure there's some Thomas characters in the story but pretty all the rest are OCs, and because this is focusing more on Sunny and Co., having the MLP intro for this is all the more fitting.
I mean, Sunny and her friends have yet to see NWR engines and crew. But it's probably not gonna happen for a while.
and opened the throttle.*
Impressive, something you don't see everyday.
as the duo rumbled*
Tell me about it.
I'm guessing that's a well known band in that part of the U.K.?

1. You are really well versed in British television. Many Americans I speak to just look at me blankly when I mention most British TV.
The railway is the Great Central Railway, which runs from just north of Leicester to Loughborough.
2. Indeed. Much of the cast right now consists of original characters or heavily tweaked versions of TTTE characters.
11466658
1 and 3. Thanks for catching those.
2. Here it is!

4. Not easy to say.
5. The first one, yes. Nathan Evans is Wellerman guy.
11466763
I see thx
11466761
Why thank you.
Ah.
Aye, but honestly, I think making some other engines for the Mainland's side of things was needed. Pretty much most OCs on Thomas were on Sodor only. But this is a nice change of pace.
11466766
Np.
11466814
That's part of the idea behind this set. The mainland rarely gets much focus in TTTE, apart from being sometimes depicted as this dark, scary place where no steam engine is safe. Which was true of the 1960s, but less so today.
11466877
Aye as many new steamers are being built today. Like Tornado was.
11466919
Or to name another example, Lady of Legend (finished 2019). Not to mention the new County and Grange that should be coming on stream in the next year or two.
11466946
Yeah. Them too.
11466952
In short, plenty of excitement in the rail world coming up.
11466766
11466952
New chapter has arrived!
You mean by foot?
I mean spamcams were known to have problems.
Ngl, I think that be perfect for her.
That's, odd...
Not surprised there.
There's something my dad used to complain a lot about whenever I brought up steam trains.
Also, why did she mention Jeremy Clarkson?
If only more people can accept it these days but no.
I thought the bird that stole Pipp's phone was a pigeon.
Also, I'm impressed you referenced our conversation of Pipp wearing gloves.
11467661
1. Yes indeed. Turns out running a long way for a long time will leave you very tired.
2. And still do if driven badly.
3. Yes.
4. It is indeed. It's probably leading up to something.
5. I suspect most people would react that way.
6. In British vernacular speech, to refer to somebody as a 'Clarkson' means that you consider them a reckless driver. Ironically, Clarkson's craziest antics took place on a racetrack, with the road trip specials suggesting a very careful observance of road laws.
7. Me too.
11467742
1. Remember that. It's important.
2. It did feel like something that Pipp and Zipp would converse about, so dropping it in seemed fitting.
11467986
Okay.
Yeah, given how those 2 are, it definitely is something they would talk about.
11467987
There's a lot of fun in writing characters who are siblings yet polar opposites (are they twins? I'm not 100% sure).
11467990
That, I can definitely agree with, look at those that write about Sunlight Smiles and Moonlight Raven.
TBH, I heard that they were said to be twins but I can't confirm it as I didn't really give it much thought.
But, I do have Polar opposite moments with Zipp and Pipp in my works too. Not just with clothing choices but even with choice of blasters and how they carry them. I even had concepts of where Zipp does sisterly pranking. (But not crazy major ones like how Rainbow does)
11467994
That would be an interesting idea to incorporate into my own works as well. After all, pulling pranks isn't always a sign that somebody dislikes somebody else.
11468003
Aye.
That makes 2 of us, Goldie.
Awesome! Another TTTE character added to the roaster!
filled*
There's something I'm glad I know no ones does on a daily basis. Sounds too hard to handle.
Tell me about it...
go on down."*
Who is she again? Goldie to be exact.
I hope Hitch gets used to this as there's no going back.
Huh, wasn't expecting Harvey to appear, but glad to see him!
Though I am questioning if we'll see Sparky in this story come to think of if?
Not helping Pipp.
Uh oh!
11468012
I'll take a look at your PM and see what I think.
11468271
1. Filling and filled are equally valid in the context.
2. There are some YTers who upload several times a day, but that's because they've split a larger video into bits. Phillip Burnell aka 'DarkSydePhil' was known for doing this with his Let's Plays, with absolutely no editing whatsoever (which is partly why his videos are so dull to watch).
3. Hmmm.
4. Aha.
5. Goldie is Sunny's mother. She's an OC created by Thomlight Sparkle (as you'll recall, it is heavily implied in the main show that Sunny's mom died long before Argyle did, but seeing as many people depict Applejack's parents as still alive in EqG it only seemed fitting to reference that).
6. I think he will.
7. Maybe. Maybe.
8. Nope.
9. The question is, how are they moving?
11468037
1. That is, again, lifted from personal experience. I often find that they stop calling me if I truly leave them tongue-tied.
2. I've seen one of the engines that Harvey is based on in action. The Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway had a crane tank in working order when I visited in 2017, and it was doing yard jobs inbetween the service trains.
11468427
I get them all too often myself. Even IRS scammers too.
Wow! That's incredible! To actually see one in action!
11468426
Crap, I guess I forgot Goldie is an oc/the mother of Sunny starscout.
11468429
1. Tax ones are the most common, as people tend not to act rationally when scared. This was the sort of thing I was gunning for when trying to develop Goldie; even gentle people have their limits.
2. They can't lift a huge amount, but the people who would otherwise be lifting those things can be doing other jobs.
11468624
It's alright. There are a lot of OCs in this setting.
11468676
Yeah, I tend to be the same here and there but not for tax scammers anymore. To that I say: "Stop taking advantage of naive ones and get a real job!" And that's exactly how I wanted Goldie to be as a character.
So, the thing with Harvey helping rerail engines was a sham? Not that it matters completely but on the other hand, having a mobile crane is always handy no matter what the circumstances are.
11468684
1. That's the spirit.
2. Harvey could theoretically be used to rerail stock, but he would need to be weighted down first. Similar to how Rocky deploys stabilising jacks before using his crane arm, as otherwise the heavy rolling stock could cause him to tip over.
11468843
I see your point. I wonder if those quite of things could be put onto a Crane tank in real life?
11469239
It's certainly feasible, with steam being used to move them in or out.
11469314
Sure.
Well there's a new thing I didn't know about before. Never heard of it before.
A railmotor? Hmm, is that the British equivalent to a Doodlebug? (Wonder what Daisy would think of that engine?)
Well, it's not quite what I was expecting but nice choice of engine for Haven's private train.
You are absolutely warranted, Porter. Storms are never a good thing in movie settings or stories.
Amd it's all thx to Goldie for making this possible!
Steam locomotives are not monsters!!!
He has a point.
Also, what does JCB stand for?
I swear she has anger issues.
Tell me about it.
Is that true?
Great to finally see Zipp and Pipp's father in the story!
I happen to know a steam engine in America that carries that same number, which I have seen in person and is operational too. Though it's narrow gauge but is celebrating its 100 birthday this year alongside its two siblings as well!
lol, go sea.
She doesn't know when to give us a break with these complaints!
It isn't Porter!
Are you referring me or someone else here?
11469318
Indeed.
11469325
1. It's the national joke. Alongside the other national joke and the other national joke.
2. Railmotor is generally used to refer to steam powered machines with multiple cabs. Doodlebugs are the US equivalent of diesel railcars in the UK.
3. The B4, as requested.
4. To use the technical term, pathetic fallacy.
11469545
1. Yes it is. Businesswoman, engineer, mother-seems there's nothing Goldie cannot do.
2. Indeed. But Posey is a douche.
3. Loophole abuse 101. JCB is short for Joseph C. Bamford Limited, a company best known for building excavators. Their vehicles are so common that it is normal to refer to any excavator as a JCB, even ones built by other companies. Similar to how aircraft of a similar size to the Boeing 747 are often called 'jumbos' even if made by Airbus.
4 and 5. Yes.
6. Yes it is.
7. No problem.
8. That's the K-28, isn't it?
9. Puns-a-plenty!
10. One reader did ask if Izzy's parents would appear, so they have.
11. Nope.
11469553
https://m.Yes, I'm referring to this engine.
11469560
The similarity in number is likely a concidence.
11469661
How? The one seen in the story is tank engine, originally built for the LBSC while the one I'm familiar with is narrow gauge and a mikado.
11469551
National joke or not, Izzy is just one of those gals that has a huge appetite for anything.
Oh.
Yep.
Aye.
