Misty has a cutie mark, but she doesn't even know what it's for. Her name is unrelated to anything, it's just a thing. She doesn't even know her parents.
But maybe her friends can help her find who she really is—or help her consider who she should really be.

Such a nice story. I love how you touch up the fact that Misty doesn’t know anything about who her biological family is, which also leaves the question of about her identity. I really hope Chapter 5 acknowledges this question and gives us a good answer to it.

Thank you! Yeah, the story was mostly inspired by my wondering about it myself.
Nice.

In that episode with the weird unicorn games, there's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment where Alphabittle sees Misty and has an interesting look in reaction. I'm not sure if it was recognition or what, but I'm hoping that's foreshadowing more of her background.

Ooh, that's interesting to know.
To be fair, Opaline wouldn't have exactly known what her name was, if she even had one, when she found Misty.
so relatable
yeah… she has a lot of figuring out who she is for the first time in her life ahead of her!
oof! not even having a name to hold on to as being sure of who you are, poor Misty!
a lesson to learn in listening to other ponies with problems!
aww! Misty is understandably in existential crisis now, but with good friends and support there is hope for her to come out of it the other side. thank you for writing!
The Crusaders truly did provide a vital service.
A thought-provoking look at the enigma that is Misty. It is terribly ironic how finding her cutie mark only raises more questions about her identity, but at least she’s thinking to ask them. And yeah, with this kind of personal crisis, stock platitudes will not help. There is no clean, easy answer here, certainly not one they can find in a thousand words. But the open ending works here. Misty may not have the answer, but she has an answer, one she can build on with her newfound family to resolve the deeper problem.
Impressive narrative and emotional density. Thank you for the story.
