R.I.P. Jason David Frank · 6:16pm Nov 20th, 2022
2022 strikes yet again with another death before its time! Jason David Frank, the actor famous for playing Tommy Oliver in Power Rangers across multiple seasons, died at the age of 49, apparently from suicide.
Jason brought Tommy to life, making the green ranger and later the white ranger iconic characters. In fact, it was because of the popularity of Jason's character that he was brought back to continue as Tommy as the white ranger when he was originally slated to be the star of another show: V. R. Troopers.
After leaving the show during Turbo, Jason returned to the role of Tommy several times, most noticeably during Dino Thunder when his character became Dr. Thomas Oliver and later the black Dino Thunder ranger. In fact, there was an entire arc midway through the series made to cover for Jason being unable to play Tommy on set even though he could provide voice work in post production.
There's no denying that Jason David Frank was the face of many 90's kids' childhood. He truly was a legend in and out of universe. His sudden death makes him the latest victim of the supposed curse of the Power Rangers franchise in which many actors have either died young, or otherwise suffered severe misfortune. He will be missed.
Of all the rangers we’ve had, He was the greatest.
I will miss him a ton. He was one of the first actors I was ever introduce to and always have wanted to meet him ever since powermorphincon/comicon came to be. However...now I won't be able to. But I will never forget him.
It was a pretty awesome guy ever since I first watch The Mighty Morphin Power Ranger when I was a kid I've always looked up to them especially him he was pretty cool I still can't believe he's gone R.i.p Jason David Frank and may the power protect you. And say hi to Thuy Trang we will miss you both

No doubt.
Even if you thought Tommy was overrated, you can't deny the impact he left on Power Rangers.

He was the best.
Such a legend among legends; he had such an impact on so many childhoods.
5706166 If you were a 90's or early 2000's kid in any way, shape or form, he WAS a part of your childhood. I guarantee it.
