XIV - I Don't Have a Clever Title This Time · 8:45pm Feb 13th, 2023
This is close to where the first half of the next chapter of CA will sit as far as word count. It's incredibly dense β far more than I ever anticipated it being β and has gone through many revisions. There were a lot of problems I ran into while trying to write this half, and I'm still not 100% on what I've got either. That said, I've sent it off for the first round of editing from someone who isn't me, which means steady progress is being made.
As stated previously, the next chapter is going to be split into two parts. Thankfully, the second part has already been felt out quite a bit, and shouldn't take nearly as long to finish as this one did. Regardless, I will make sure to finish the second part of this chapter so that they can be released in a timely fashion next to one another.
That means it might take me a little bit longer to get the first half out, but I want this to be good. Writing is like baking: if you don't give an idea the exact time it needs in the oven, it'll mess everything up. And considering this is the chapter before we move on to the next act, I want it to be Perfect.
After these two parts get posted up, I might take a brief hiatus until spring begins. Admittedly, writing has become a little more difficult these past few months. Not because I'm burning out, but mostly because I'm going a little stir crazy.
Where I live, the winters tend to be brutally cold, and for several months out of the year, the simple act of leaving the house is a chore in and of itself. Being stuck inside so much for so long β combined with the fact that my surroundings are buried in fifty billion tons slushy, dirty snow β has stifled my creativity and left me somewhat depressed. It's hard not to feel stagnant when your environment is.
All that said, I do have other story ideas in mind, and have been actively working on a couple other long-form ideas I may have. I may post some one-offs sometime soon, but that's all up in the air right now. Time will tell where things go and how they develop from here, and I will keep you posted on anything you may need to know. Thank you for reading, for your patience, and I hope you're having/have had a wonderful day.
Keep it up! I'll happily wait as long as is needed.
