You Asked, So You Have Received · 3:54pm Apr 2nd, 2023
My dearest readers,
A few weeks ago, I asked if y’all would be interested in reading a second PLAOFW. Many of you said that you would. I heard you, and I delivered.
The new anthology that I am working on contains stories of foals that Luna escorts to the afterlife. These are the saddest stories in my opinion for a few obvious reasons:
First, children are not supposed to die, period. It goes against the natural order of things for a little one to pass on. The death of a child is the most unnatural, terrible, heartbreaking tragic thing that could happen to anyone. That goes without saying.
Secondly, I like to write sad stories; they break my heart, challenge me, and teach me how to improve as a writer. Comedies, slices of life, and fluff pieces are relatively easy for me to write because I can be insanely goofy and ridiculous and people will get a kick out of it. Sad stories, on the other hand, require a lot of brooding. If my sad stories break your heart, please tell me; that is the greatest compliment you can give me. Writing an effective sad story is an art form. I can only think of so many ways to kill my characters, so I hesitated for a bit while I pondered writing this new anthology because I didn’t want anyone’s deaths to seem repetitive. If you can think of any extra sad ways for children to die, please share your ideas and/or requests, and I might credit you in one of my stories! I don’t want my writing to become stale.
As always, I want to thank you all for your continued support. Every view means more to me than you’ll ever know.
With love,
Drunk Luna
Uhh.. if a sidequest from a game works, I have one that was quite memorable for me.
(Names aren't exactly the same, as it's been years. This isn't perfect replication, but it works well enough.)
----
It starts with Bruno who is looking for a bike for his brother Jack, and is sick at home. When you meet him you help the little guy find a bike. He says they live alone due to losing their parents. When you finally get the bike, it's really rusty and old but Bruno is happy all the same.
You walk back to the house, when you go inside, you see Jack. Bruno then keeps trying to ask Jack why won't he wake up? He brought the bike he wished for...
----
That's how the quest ends, nothing happy just a long dead brother stuck in bed who died long before you arrived, all while the other was out trying to find a bike to make his sick sibling happy.
Pretty sad with no happy ending, you may get some rewards for doing it, but Jesus does it feel like you don't deserve it.
I get other stuff from that world, but that's the most memorable sidequest for me from that world.
It genuinely made me feel kinda dirty and wrong for awhile..
This is a gacha game called Guardian Tale. If you ever want to look into it, it's a great game that has tons of love, personality, and charm. It probably has some of the most memorable, great, and well-written stories I've ever seen.
